***OKIES in the BYC III ***

well, bathed em in that, so they should be good to go then.... I will bathe them with Adam's flea and tick shampoo, then treat with Ivermectin two days later, and re-bathe after 7 days to kill anything that got missed, the ivomec again. Spray the Pen roost to floor with something, I like permethrin based insecticides. Those bugs are tough to get rid of

hate those little buggers! ivomec them, can you put ivomec on chicks? NO

Does anyone listen to the Chicken Whisper?? He has upcoming topic called "killing them with Kindness" Its not about butchering.
What is it, Sooner? Radio or TV?

Probably lice. Lice is the ONLY critter I've ever seen crawling on birds I get from auctions, etc. They're the ones you'll normally see because they spend their entire life cycle on the bird. They come as easily as through wild birds in your yard. I use Ivomec Eprinex &/or Frontline as a preventative and also on new birds with critters crawling on them. Regular Ivomec is supposed to work (have used it but never tested it to be sure) and I know Sevin dust works.
Jim, like I always say-anyone who claims their birds don't have bug have either just treated them for it or didn't look close enough lol They're kinda hard to see.

I just got a little used 10" Netbook, I love this thing. I've wanted one for a long time but I've got a big desktop computer, a laptop & my iPad and didn't have any real need for one. So I just made up a need for one when I saw this one on Craigslist. It's really fast. I love electronics. I think I was a robot in another life.

And there is the problem with the imported birds being such a buzz and generating $$ short term, the real issue is the undisclosed crossing on other birds once they are here and misrepresentation for the sake of a buck. Then someone gets them and continues the trend of selling them as eggs or chicks and further dilutes what they really were. Ahh the power of teh all mighty dollar. It's kind of like a "show quality egg" there are shows where eggs are shown and that is a show quality egg, show quality birds laying show quality eggs that produce show quality chicks, we all strive for teh show birds but they are less than 10% of the total hatch regardless the quality of teh stock.

what, your birds dont lay show quality every time?

goodness me carl, i know someone that will sell you some real show quality stock!

i realy get a kick out of people that say that, and then they put it in writing! "for sale, show quality hatching eggs",,,
or "show quality day old chicks for sale".

some people dont believe me when i tell them that birds can go from winner to loser in less than 1 hour, much less from week to week.

i wish i could figure out how to get mine to lay only show quality eggs, hatch only show quality day olds, and then i could sell or give away only show quality birds! i wouldnt mind haveing my master breeder in every breed, type, and variety! i would be an even more popular person!
