I see lots of ads on Craigslist that make me shake my head--- today's favorite is someone ISO 5 fighting game roosters--$1000-- they even listed their phone number-- hope it is at least a prepaid cell...... Wonder who list that they are ISO items for illegal purposes --- maybe they didn't see the news where those 2 were arrested for fighting birds a couple weeks ago.

Got mine home they really are cool LOL only thing is I dumped the Dubia into the Rubbermaid tub I set up for them and some of the smaller ones made it to the top and almost out before I saw that they DO climb!! I put some petroleum jelly around the top I had already treated the Hissers tub that way cause I know they can climb...

Went to Tractor supply and was looking at a few things happened to notice that the Rubbermaid trashcan like I got from them before were all sold out but, there were 4 lids left over, I have been trying to find a way to buy some of the lids W/O the can cause they fit perfect over my plastic 55 gal barrels and keep all the water out better than the lids that came with them, So I asked them about the extra lids and the clerk said we only sell them with the set but he allowed he would ask the manager to make sure and came back out saying "This is your lucky day" and they gave me all 4 of them, That is a good score in my opinion LOL

Some people are really gifted when it comes to being turned loose on CL Like the guy that placed an ad that said 420 help and gave his home phone number LOL

what, your birds dont lay show quality every time?

goodness me carl, i know someone that will sell you some real show quality stock!

i realy get a kick out of people that say that, and then they put it in writing! "for sale, show quality hatching eggs",,,
or "show quality day old chicks for sale".

some people dont believe me when i tell them that birds can go from winner to loser in less than 1 hour, much less from week to week.

i wish i could figure out how to get mine to lay only show quality eggs, hatch only show quality day olds, and then i could sell or give away only show quality birds! i wouldnt mind haveing my master breeder in every breed, type, and variety! i would be an even more popular person!

Yep, show quality eggs are the dozens you see that are uniform in size, color and weight at the county and state fairs, Once folks realize what really goes into the birds and what comes out and what the Standard of perfection is (APA or ABA) and puts thier interpretation on that then, and then , and then , and then.. 10% show stock from a proven line is really good number 90+ will not make the cut. Wish it was as simple as just throwing two show birds in a pen, I would'nt need nearly as many birds and could turn my inc. off sometimes.
I think a person can eep up with type on no more than 3 breeds and varieties is a whole new story all teh intricate details of each color no way.. 5 (varieties) colors in 2 breeds is plenty. Tried more liked to drive me nuts..

Mine are in a glass aquarium and have never been able to climb the sides.

At 2 months you are safe.. I thought you meant chicks..

as far as 'show' quality eggs- isn't it better to say list them as from the particular breeder the better way to list it?

My honest Opinion on this this would be to provide a detailed Photos and description of the breeder birds, originating "Line" if they were aquired from any source other than the originator then that does not apply..
If they are to be advertized as from show stock one should diclose the show names, dates, and number of birds, exhibitors etc. that were present when the "wins" took place. Show records from smaller shows with less than 10 birds in a breed variety mean very little to me, shows with no competition in breed and variety (1 person showing) mean absolutely nothing since you can win variety and breed with no one else showing. You can also enter any bird you choose wether it meets the standard description or not. So as an example someone mis-enters the breed and variety lets say a D'anver pair entered as Duccl'e pair, the birds can and will still win the variety and breed if they are the only ones entered, does that mean you are now ready to sell eggs from a show winning pair of Duccl'e? No but some will do just that because they do not know any better.
