but when i see someone that i am sure is trying to decieve new folks i do get upset.
i have seen a lot of people that want to show birds get discouraged or just quit because someone sold them crap birds.
it is worse when it comes to pigeons, so many more colors and varieties than in chickens. and so many people selling them that actually have no idea what they have.

Don't forget the newcastle auction tomorrow night. we are having lasagna as are main dish jamies in the kitchen getting everything whipped up for tomorrow. we look forward to.seeing everyone there

That is true! And I know what you mean. My friends laugh at me when I talk to my chickens, but I have to remind them that they are animals, just like their dogs or cats. They talk to those animals. Talking to chickens is no different. They communicate the only way they know how. Even plants like to be talked to and they can't talk back.

I am kind of schizophrenic. I love my chickens and talk to them. I hug them. I think they have personalities. I still do eat chicken though. The thought of eating MY chickens is appalling though.

I still have lots of root and greens growing well. I'm still harvesting broccoli (the ones the chickens haven't found) turnips, beets, radish, carrots, lettuce. This is my first year planting a lot of these veggies so I'm not sure if this is usual or just this funny year.

Finally got caught up! But its nice to see the thread busy again!
Been outside most of the day enjoying the spring weather. My plum tree is almost ready to burst into bloom! Supposed to rain tomorrow turn to snow by sunday!
Worked on getting things ready for the sale tomorrow. Ended up with some extra roos and guniea pigs so I will take them. Taking several dozen eggs to a friend to try and hatch. they will be raised with the chicks I get from SandHill. I guess my breed for the year is going to be cochins. I have three colors so far.All bantams. Also going to give a try with some true Arucanas, have two hens and a roo. The hens have ear "tuffs" and are rumpless. The roo is tailed and clean faced. They are called "bantams" but not what I concider bantams. They are about the size of leghorns.maybe a bit smaller.
Hey Joe I guess your busy loading the truck for tomorrows sale! Let us know how well you do!

Cowboy how are your pigeons doing? I finally banded my first roller of the year this week! Got two more that will be big enough next week. Have two American Confettis on eggs.

Kass ,great looking carrots!@ Funny how they taste better when the come out your own labors isn't it!

I really dont care if the guineas are keets or grown.. I prefer anywhere from about 2-3 months to grown...

I will let you know when DD begans to pick out the ones she wants to keep. So far I know we have 5 lavendars that hatched late last fall (from auction eggs) they are not full size yet, but have been outside for a while. I haven't ever seperated them & tried to sex them, I can work on it & PM you next week.
