***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Yes, do tell us more about the tree people.

Anyone have guinea eggs they would be willing to part with in about a month? My brooder space is spoken for till April, but nothing like planning ahead :)

It's another windy day in the neighborhood. I hope this wind isn't bringing us a humongous storm. I had a major egg accident yesterday. I was carrying a little over two dozen in my egg basket, so it was almost full. We've got a section of privacy fence that needs mending, and the wind hit a few boards just right, and they popped off, hitting me square in the egg basket. I've used screws (not nails!!!!) to reattach the boards. The rest will be secured with screws this week. Some still look secure, but I'm not trusting that fence again until I've tightened up every single board.

I'm picking up some bee-friendly trees today: tulip trees, black gum trees, and Cleveland select pear. The Up With Trees folks in Tulsa, along with the Apache Foundation, have trees available for a modest donation. I hope I can get just the varieties I know my bees will enjoy (and get good nectar from). If you google Up With Trees you'll find their website. There is a calendar link that shows all the days you can pick up trees. They have fruit trees, too, but that's late in the month. I really want to get all my trees in the ground before the end of March.

EDITED TO ASK:

Bill - How is your nanny goat? Is she still acting like she has a second kid to deliver? Her new kid is adorable. What does the buck look like?

What kind of fruit trees do they usually have? How much do they want for them? Will they let someone outside of Tulsa area buy them? That was on my agenda for this weekend to pick up fruit trees, but if I can help out a good cause like that over feeding Lowes or Home Depot, I'd much rather drive up there.

Coral thanks for the tree info, wish I was closer. I picked up a book at goodwill the other day that would be useful for someone with milk goats. It is the book of yogurt. All the recipes use yogurt, some interesting stuff in the book, was published in the late 70's.
Anyone ever gotten seedlings from the forestry? They are having a seedling sale in Chickasha on the 15th, was considering picking a few things up. Nothing major but at the cheap prices if I spend $20 & the seedlings don't thrive it won't be heart breaking.

We are suppose to start laying our plastic mulch in an hour or 2. Should make for a fun time, the wind is still kicking & suppose to stay strong all day. When I step onto the front porch the wind about knocks me off if my jacket isn't zipped closed!

Hi Ya Everyone

I miss yall so much... Its nearly spring and of course it got me thinking about our POOP days...

Life in New York has been busy slow... if that is even possible... we are always doing or getting involved in something.

our two chickens started laying last week.. so we get blessed with a egg a day..

Still gotta a hold up on closing on the farmhouse... but we are moved in and settling in quite nicely...

Recently were asked to be reunited with someone special and now in the process to become a NYDSS Licensed Foster parent(s)

Weather has been mild.. snow here and there but nothing major...

the Canadian Geese are flocking to our property and our neighbor across the road... I think they are using us for the creek...lol and because we are only 26 miles south of their homeland...lol

Aleisha has taken up a volunteer job at a Stable (just up the road) and enjoys mucking, cleaning, brushing and riding the horses... she is in heaven... and smells ever quite the Horse when she gets home.(shhh... but I think she might have a crush on one of the Amish boys that is helping to build the Stable Barn....I could be wrong...ha ha ha ha)

So how is everyone else?

Did you get that plasticulture grant you were thinking about applying for?

Barns: Howdy. Are you and Jason enjoying upstate New York? I have fond memories of the summer we spent there as a teen. Very nice country.

My Grandmother always went to vote, every election. She went even when she had to use a walker. She turned 18 the year women gained the right to vote.
Hard to believe Sufferage wasn't that long ago.

I tell young women that all the time. A lot of brave women fought for the right to vote, and it was not that long ago. How can they just shrug it off, and not do it?

I'll be Single and may or may not be cruising for
