Thank you! I called and they will see her today.

Update:The Dr. removed a rather large soft shelled egg from Bunny and gave her two shots with steroids, an antibiotic and calcium. He said she should start to feel better in a few hours but cautioned that she still may not make it. He discovered some gurgling in her left lung and said that her muscles were spongy, and thinks that she may have a hormonal imbalance which would be fatal if that's the case. If she's not better by Wednesday, he wants to see her again. He seemed like a nice man. I will use him again if need be. I sure hope Bunny pulls through this. She's such a sweetheart, and is one of my favorite chickens.

I sure hope she makes it, did he give you any idea what would cause the hormonal imbalance or is it just age?

Got our first snake of the year Outside of the guinea cage. The guineas were standing screaming at him. DD us certain he has been dining on guinea eggs

Graet pics everyone! Love the baby goats, can't wait till I can have them again.
Busy day,I started out hanging new rabbit cages.Hung one 5 holer then made it into a four holer so the flemmish could have more room. Then I mowed then did feeding chores and then raked up the grass I cut and pulled some more weeds out of the flower beds. My poor bald head is a beautiful shade of crimson! Face too! Anyway I took some pics to so thought I join the pic showing crowd!

Thanks for all the well wishes for my Serama hen. She's still hanging in there and drinking a lot of water. She's here in the living room with me where it's quiet and as stress free as possible for her. I can keep a close eye on her this way, too.

jcatblum - wow! that snake is a long as your DD is tall. What kind of snake is it?

BBAcres - what a cute kid! So small!

- Glad you found us here on the Okie thread. There are several folks on here who can fix you up with some chicks, or point you in the right direction for what you're wanting. What kind of chickens are you looking for?

Thank you. For the possible hormonal imbalance, the vet said she could have difficulty using calcium. It could be disorders such as hypothyroidism, Graves disease or others, probably related to her thyroid but he's not sure. It's not an age problem since she is still a young hen - about a year and a half old. I hope it's not that. She sure doesn't look good though. I'm hoping she gets better quickly. I appreciate your well wishes for her, too.

Okladoodle - what great pics of your animals, garden and yard! I love a tidy yard and yours looks very nice. Sorry to hear about your sunburn, though. You're not a hat guy, huh?

How many pigeons and guinea pigs do you have now?

I love this kid! She's awesome lol Friendly and sweet and has the coolest freckles. I always wanted freckles when I was a kid, I used to dot them on with an ink pen, I must have looked so stupid

I hope your little girl makes it, Deanne. Dr Zinn knows a ton about chickens, even more about sheep, goats and horses. He's abrupt and gets to the point which some people don't like but I can relate to it. Last October I took a rooster in who was laid out on his side gasping with his eyes closesd. He gave him a bunch of injections and what-not and sent injections home. He made it, I couldn't believe it-he's one tough chicken.
One of my Silkie boys died today, I have no idea why. He hadn't been one of the sick ones or even on the same side of the yard as the sick ones. I felt so guilty when my 1st thought was "Thank God it wasn't one of my Cochin girls."
Mitzi - you are too funny! I had freckles as a kid and hated them. They faded as I got older, but still have some.

I liked Dr. Zinn. I didn't find him to be abrupt but he was straight-forward, but in a kind way. I like that. It takes the guesswork out of what someone is thinking.

So sorry about your Silkie boy.

It's even harder when you don't know what happened.

and the Okie thread. What kind of chicks are you wanting? There is going to be a big Okie chicken event on May 5th, I'm sure there will be lots of chicks there.
