We have two!! Right before going to bed I checked on them and there was another pip, he made quick work of it cause he woke me up just before 4 announcing his arrival. He won't stop cheeping! Yeah!! I'm excited now! I have two! I wonder if the other 5 will do anything today will be the end of day 24 and beginning of day 25.

Welcome busybee! We are shameless enablers :)

Ksane - I was so temped to go to newcastle tonight. If we hadn't been doing holiday stuff with DH's family I would have been there. Sounds like you got a haul!

woke up to all 5 favs pipping! and one very protective broody! i have Easter babies!

In Yukon. I haven't seen them open their eyes either. I thought I had but guess I was wrong.

ok, with the chicks, are they warm enough? if you can, dip their beaks in some uncooked egg yoke, like they would if they were still in the shell, it may help- i have heard of that with weak chicks... don't give up on them or hatching, alot depends on the health of the hen that laid them-

Looks like it might try to rain again today, if the overcast sky is any indication. I am hopeing to plant more seeds this afternoon. I am inspired by some of you - and am reading a very neat book called "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" that is about a family who decide they will eat only locally grown fruits and vegetables for a year. I hope this year's garden is more successful than some in the past and think that actually getting the seeds into the ground before the first of June is a good place to start.

As usual, I have more seeds than I can possibly get planted, but am hopeful we will have the opportunity to try some new vegetables this year and recognize something from your own garden is always tastier than what is available at the grocery store.

Well the one Silkie that I could of sworn was going to die, I cut the rest of the membrane off it and then I seen bleeding so I thought I really killed it. I put both of them on a paper towel and went to bed. Woke up this morning and the white silkie that I didn't put anything on its legs and cut the stuff off was up walking around.

The other silkie whose legs were banded not walking. I think its leg is turned in. I'm going to get some vet wrap and try that. I'll post pictures so you all can see.

Ksane......If your serious about the lavenders, I would love one or two. :) I have plenty of room.

Years ago my Mother introduced me to Organic Gardening magazine.....back in the 70s. She started composting and using organic methods in her garden and inspired me to do the same. I've been doing it ever since. Back then the comment was with $60 of seed, you could produce $600 in food for your family. Looking back at the amount of produce we have harvested over the years...that's a pretty good ratio. While seed prices have risen, so has the price of the grocery store produce.

Congratulations on all the hatches and the purchases last night. Sure was a lot of fun to see everyone.

man, i guess i aint as young as i used to be. got up at 530 yesterday morning, went to bed at 900 last night with 357 miles of driving between the 2.

i cant do that anymore, almost killed this old man!

did good at afton swap yesterday morning, sold some birds so i would have money for the afternoon excursion.

then it was off to the house of jarvis.di my thing there, [that means i spent money], then i had to drive back home!
man i wish my wife could drive like she wasnt a granny. i could have rested a little on the way home!

got good stuff at carls, now i am a happy camper. grand kids didnt like roosters crowing in the incubator room all night, but they can go home if they want too! i got mo chickens!

The LF cochins brought $18-about $30 I think last night. The most expensive chicken was a blue game that brought $50 next runner up was a blue Amerucana that brought $42 I think. I was surprised that even close to 1 am there was still a bidding war over a few birds. Michael went home with a massive haul of birds last night, he must have bought half the stuff seemed like.

Plan on going to Walters auction, unless something keeps me home. Can't decide on it I will take the girls, they want to go but have school on Tuesday & it is the start of testing wk.
