***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Did you catch my post last week that the 2 Serama babies are doing really good?? We put them together because they were really upset apart.
And I had tried Channing with one of the OEGB hens and he beat her up. I had to separate them. He thinks I'm hen enough for him so I'm not going to try to put him with any more girls. He blew his chance lol

i had to separate boaz and ruth, he was not giving the poor girl a rest at all- so they have 'visitation', am wondering if a larger area for serama pairs is better??

Good morning! Hope everyone had a fantastic Easter! Anybody looking for Wheaten Marans? I have 4 I need to find homes for. They were hatched on 3/31, all have feathered legs. The eggs came from Texas that I bought off the auction section of BYC. The black one is a Black Copper Maran /Buff Orpington mix that I just hatched because I wanted too...

If anyone is interested let me know.

I haven't read thru the thread yet but my neighbor, jack, is looking for Wheaten marans. have you foudn a home for the chicks yet?

NANAKAT is doing a super duper job tracking the raffle items and getting donations and
Sooner is doing her usual stellar job in coordinating the food roundup and tee shirt sales.
Muesky likewise has been great in running the wants and wishes list.
Let's give them all a big hand!

I don't know but I'm really glad I tried it with a hen here before getting one specifically to live with Channing. My daughter's in love with the pair I got from Deanne. We may end up having to separate them later if he breeds her too much though.
I think Seramas probably need lots of women per male.

Oh yea-and how did I get a BYC Friend label? I love it!

Me, Molly and mom planted our first wave of tomatoes today. 34 plants. Will have near 200 when complete. Anyway about 3 hours later we get hit with rain (bucket fulls) and of course hail. I wanted to drive my pickup over the tomatoe plants but figured I get stuck, just saying, tomatoes mean more than the truck. After it all passed, I went to see how everything faired. I have several chickens that are provided 4 star accomadations but still chose to sleep out side. Checked all the local chicken hangouts and no damage done to the birds. Checked tomatoes and to my relief they are all well and accounted for. Bear went inside the chicken house he has access to. Charlie (Bears student in training) chose to lay under a bush instead of seeking shelter in his place of refuge. Charlie is 11 week old GP that I got from Michael at Newcastle last Sat. (or I should say my wife got.) Michael Is as good as they come. Charlie was being raised around goats and chickens. He has fell in and is doing good. His mentor Bear seems to really like him too. I do not leave Charlie with the chickens unless I am near to watch as I said, he is 11 weeks old and likes to play. He acts like he wants to play with a chicken, chickens freaks and hauls butt, Charlie follows. Dont want to get any bad habits started so he will be supervised around the fowl for awhile. I will try to get pictures of him in the next day or two. He does some stupid stuff that looks funny, and I think, dang I should have my camera. I will sometime

Hope noone has any worse storm than we did.

Poultry and bees still owe you an email....but wanted to share with you my yellow golden laid her first egg today! not bad for yearlings...still waiting on the silly black melanistics to lay...

Cowboy didnt you just get that truck fixed?

Tonight there were some pretty buff colored NN hens. Think they brought $14 each. This was a different crowd. No one was bidding on hatching eggs of any kind. I counted my incubator space before we left & told DD unless there was something she REALLY wanted we couldnt buy any eggs tonight. She did ask for some bantam Cornish eggs but I tried my best to explain they were not the kinda bird she would like. She said, but they are bantams.
