***OKIES in the BYC III ***

So excited!!! Especially about the little OE...lost our 4 week old little pullet this morning. Candling will be good too!

Definitely buzzards... we have them soaring here too and the roos all sound off when they see one. The newest roos even sound off when Lucy and Goosey, the Canadians, fly in for their scratch.

Looks just like Murdock did when he was little.. Wild cat had three kittens in the barn and he was the only one who would let me stick my finger in the trap....so he got to stay. he is 11 now. Great mouser...leaves me the head of his catches by the back door to let me know he is earning his keep

Our Moe leaves all but the head, including a headless baby bunny in the laundry room!

Well. Baby lily arrived 5.20pm 6lb 8 oz. Please keep her in your. Prayers as they'd. Take her to the nicu because of breathing problem so hard on mom!

NICU is hard, but they do their job well! My oldest was in NICU for a week and turned out just fine, thinking positive makes a big difference. Sending good thoughts your way.

I'll check the barn kittens tomorrow to see if the black kitten is male. And yes, the two mom cats sharing the responsibility for nursing and caring for three kittens are in a cardboard box in the barn. I need to take a look at those too. I guess tomorrow is kitten inventory day. I'll post some pictures and decide if we're keeping any. They should be eating kitten chow by May 5th, so I can bring them to POOPS if people want to adopt a free kitten.

None of our cats bother the chicks, juveniles, or full grown chickens. Every now and then a chick pops out of a brooder or grow-out pen in the barn, and the cats just watch as I scramble around trying to catch the escapee. I think the cats are entertained by my lack of agility. I have a few free range roosters doing bug patrol. When I open the barn in the morning, I often find one or more roosters snuggled with Thomas, our male cat. I'll have to start carrying my camera in the morning. I've missed too many great pictures because I'm unprepared.

I'd love to see a pic of a roo and tom cat :) Strange bedfellows. Okay well you guys have me convined the cats should be okay, so maybe I will be in the market for some barn cats. I think I'd be okay with the cat if it was female, but I've never met a true black cat that wasn't male. My black cat came out of a pure white cat, she had three whites and two blacks, both blacks were the males.

Ksane - I think I'm gonna need the number for that vet you know. I'm not saying no to taking him, but like I said I would feel bad taking him right now. I guess then again since you are so close, if he doesn't act right and thrive I could always reunite him with his sisters, hm?

I read in a book once that they are a food offering. They never see us eat cat food so they think we are starving. Not sure if there is any truth to it, but intersting to think about.

I read once they are trying to teach us to hunt, they feel we are in need of hunting skills, and are treating us like they would thier kitten.

lol so kinda along the same lines, what our cats truly think of us.... we are incompetent.

From everything I've seen cats think everyone not a cat and especially human or dog is extremely incompetent!!!! lol I love cats though, not constantly groveling for attention like a dog (I do have pet dogs too)

I planted some morning glory seeds in the garden in an area I wanted a light weight vine to crawl up to provide some shade. I know they will give good shade and be pretty, but in my constant quest for things to be multi purpose I googled uses for morning glories (thinking legit uses) well I came up w/ a slew of sites about the hallucinitory, lsd like effects of eating the seeds. Normally this would just be a mild amusment, but I did it on the work computer!!!!!!!

Guess I'll find out how much monitoring they do of our internet activity if I come up for a random pee test this month. lol

Laura, if you'll really take him I'll be glad to keep him here until he's eating solid food, another 3-4 wks should be fine. They've all taken to the bottle great amazingly enough. At this age you still have to make them go to the bathroom manually, you probably don't want to deal with that lol But I'll be thrilled if you'd take him! My daughter's so glad I said we could keep 2 of them that she has no problem at all taking care of them. She's grown, she's been through it since she was born having me for a mom always bottle-feeding something or other.
