***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Praying for those in the storm paths. Nrman hit...sister and aunt live there, checking on them.
we have thunder and lightening, but heard there is golfball sized hail in the twin lakes area...hope Carl and Stehp are okay.

All good here, it was 2 miles north and 1 east all I got was rain and extra tree branches that were not mine. I really like the position of this house, had several very close in the last 15 years two have even gone over the house but never lost so much as a shingle off the roof. Anymore I just sit on the front porch and watch it come and go.

Shane is 4 years old. So we just bring an egg from one of our chickens?

Sure, or since you don't have bunches of layers yet I am CERTAIN someone around here can help him have eggs for the contest. (someone with nice colored eggs or tiny eggs PM armywife & get her boy some eggs for the contest). If no one else offers I am sure I can find a few extra eggs, I will just have to pry them out of DD hands!

I am shooting for 6 eggs per child that enters. Figure if we can get 10 kids to enter then that will be 60 eggs for us to vote on.

Pull up a stump and have seat no one here but us enablers, LOL

Looks like all the rain and storms went around me (whew!) I candled eggs while it was kinda dark and dropped 30 eggs in a flat and of course they didn't land flat well not till after they quit bouncing off everything on the way down and then most were flat the worst part... one that sprung a leak, was never going to hatch anyway.. will take days to get that smell out of the carpet and that room, good thing I live alone LOL Something like that could cause a divorce! even Princess left the house and she can reach.. Well you know what I mean ( I almost forgot it's a family forum)

Well, thanks for the welcome, Elwood! I was trying to find the POOPS info. I thought I might like to meet some fellow chicken freaks face to face. But, I have decided that the folks here must be related to the ones in my garden club because I've gone back several pages and can't find it. I have found almost everything else, though.

So, I'm just reading along, getting acquainted vicariously through y'all's posts!

Seems like a really great bunch of folks here and I'm looking forward to getting know you all. Just a bit of forewarning; once I get started there's no shutting me up!.
I'm just a typical Okie hick myself. I live north of Seminole and stay home with my horses, chickens, rabbits, dogs and cats and one mini donkey. Oh yeah, and the occasional hubby when he makes in.

I'm also the proud owner of 12 (almost 13) grandchildren, all of whom I'm not nearly old enough to be grandmother to. It wasn't bad until I married a man who had two kids, in addition to my two and they all went forth and multiplied-- with great vigor.

Anyway, thanks again for the welcome!

Aw, get some febreeze! Actually, if you mix about a tablespoon of bleach and about 1/2 cup of 409 in a gallon of hot water, it does wonders for getting stuff out of carpet. The bleach will help neutralize the smell, too. I hate it when stuff like that happens!
The storms missed us, too. At least this round. Both of my sons live in Davenport and they got dumped on, but we didn't even get enough of a sprinkled to dampen the ground. I was sure hoping for a good rain, too. My stud got out yesterday and decided the garden would be a perfect place to roll. Didn't do my sprouting beans a whole world of good and I was hoping the rain would help. Oh well. With my luck, if I got the rain it would have come with hail that would have beat the poor things the rest of the way into the ground....

DH is still @ work. He called saying they thought they had a tornado on the far side of post where it meets Medicine Park. After the fires & floods the last thing they need is a tornado!

Bill do you want me to bring you some oxine? It will help BUNCHES!

Anyone interested in some Amish Paste tomatoes. They grew kinda leggy & don't look as strong as my others. They are big, just not real thick stems. Should do fine if you plant them in a trench on there side. I was going to toss them, but feel guilty! My sister took some home last wk & they are doing good for her so far. I have several trays of them plenty to share with anyone that wants them @ Blanchard tomorrow or I could even bring them to Newcastle.

Don't you just hate it when you are doing something and realize it "isn't going to end well" and you are right?

Since you already seem to be well on your way to an addiction to poultry, I won't give you the standard disclaimer about the enablers on this thread who will try to assist you in the acquisition of more poultry than you ever dreamed of owning.

What kind of chickens and rabbits do you have?
