***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Dee is a super nice guy. He helped us a lot during the first year I was in turkeys.
He was at my farm at least every other week that summer. He made many a trip to the Unv Ar with my dead birds. That was a high dollar lesson but the worked back wards until the traced the problem down. Not many state guys give you their private home number and say call to matter the hour. Luckly I learned my lesson and he out of business ( problem guy) so we all better off.

Junebug, Congratulations on your wins. How many birds were entered in the show?

Is there a list of upcoming shows posted anywhere? Do chicken judges give oral reasons for their placings? I will never exhibit but think I would enjoy watching. Again, congratulations..

Was clearing out my photo album here on BYC and found this picture of my Modern Bantam boy, I just adore this boy.
There's 2 eggs from his and his black birchen girl set to hatch Wed. His name is Spiderman but I call him Spidey. He's the one who's so wonderful to his hen.

wow! Those are supermodel legs!!

This is another question I need help with...We live in the city limits and have our chickens in our backyard. We havent let them out of the run yet. I am worried they will fly over the fence. They are Buff Orpingtons and everything I have read says they are too large to fly too high. Is this true? Also, how do you get them back into the run or coop?
Thanks for answering all my questions! I would be lost without this page

Hm, my orps used to sit on my 6 ft fence, course there were chairs and things near there that they could use as stepping stones. Long as you've had them a while and they know where they sleep they should go back on their own. They will probably avoid the fence with the dogs tho.

This wk I tried to move a RIR roo into my large coop that is the lean to of the barn. He hasn't seemed to fit in. He is in love with DD & watched over her all weekend. Today she gets off the bus & when she was half way up the driveway he comes running from the barn to meet her. He had to have heard her, our driveway is 1/4 mile long & the barn is no where near the driveway. So of course she scooped him up & gave him an after school snack. He ate on the patio table while the dogs sat & whined wanting a snack too.

We need to get her with Nathanael our 10 year old, I bet they would get along great!!! Poor little roo was probably having withdrawls from her all day, lol.

moved the 18 guinea keets to the small coop! Yeah! so nice to have their stinky butts out of the house.... gonna miss their morning songs tho.

now you need to get some meat bird babies to keep in the house for a couple weeks, guineas dont smell that bad.
