Upcdazey funny you should bring your sisters trip up today,we were watching the news tonight and they were intervieweing a guy who is walking thru Nashville headed out west to walk the conntinental divide! I was telling my wife how I always wished I had done that when I was younger. I think doing that would be so awesome. Anxious to see her blog. Tell her to please be careful,,I have heard some horror storys about bushwackers on the App trail and the Divide trail. My hats off to her, will keep her in our prayers that she has a safe and wonderful trip.

Congrats Junebug! Your putting us on the map lady!
Thanks, Okla! I will let her know. I didn't realize that there were so many folks doing the Appalachian trail hike. Evidently there are all kinds of stops along the way and local folks willing to help them out, that there is an entire seasonal industry around it all the way up the trail. You are right about the horror stories. My sister told me a few that others hikers have told her, though I would imagine that some of the stories were embellished somewhat. Still, there is an inherent danger to hiking, let alone by herself and for such a long distance. I will let her know that prayers are going out to her for a safe trip.

Hi Okies,

Its been a while since I've been by, but here I am...come to bragg about my big win. This past weekend was the infamous 'Cajun Classic Serama International' held near New Orleans. It is the 'Super Bowl' of Serama shows. Here is a picture of my biggest win....(actually, I lost)...This is Best of the Best Competition for Grand Champion...I didn't win, but got Reserve to Grand Champion. I also got Champion Malay Hen, Champion Silkied Cock, Champion Reserve Silkied Cock, Champion Silkied Hen. My little one pictured here weighs 10.2 Oz. Grand Champion belonged to Danny Bolding from Alabama.

Congratulations!

This wk I tried to move a RIR roo into my large coop that is the lean to of the barn. He hasn't seemed to fit in. He is in love with DD & watched over her all weekend. Today she gets off the bus & when she was half way up the driveway he comes running from the barn to meet her. He had to have heard her, our driveway is 1/4 mile long & the barn is no where near the driveway. So of course she scooped him up & gave him an after school snack. He ate on the patio table while the dogs sat & whined wanting a snack too.

Isn't it amazing how critters can learn to recognize sounds of their humans? I wonder if it was the school bus or her voice that clued him to go down the driveway.

Kass, those pictures are so pretty! I'm savinG some of them on my iPad for wallpaper.

Great idea!!!!

Don't have any geese - but hope you will stop in again. This is definitely the place to "find" birds.

Nanakat and Cowboy, I will be praying for you guys as you go through this!
Thank you...had an abnormal ekg today so will be doing the longer stress test and echocardiogram on the 26th. Cowboy hope your tests have good results.

Well I did it again, hit the submit button before I'm finished.

I've always known this one as Widow's tears. Sometimes we find a pink one in the pastures and transplant it to the flowerbeds. They all got bit by the drought last year...so will be looking for replacements.

Congrats to OK_Junebug on those pretty show wins.

:( sorry, hope the other tests go well

the rooster is already crowing at 3 in the morning.... what's wrong with him! Not that is matters I'm awake anyway afterall it validates my inability to sleep. He says it's morning, so it must be,

I'll join you at this early morning hour. My roosters aren't crowing yet but there is a mockingbird that has been roosting near my window every night for a few weeks. He mimics the roosters, and he is LOUD!

It looks like the smilie above is sleeping though... lol

lol, we used to have a cardinal at the last house that would attack our kitchen window starting at dawn, the last two, maybe three springs (how long do those birds live??), in the beginning I was hearing knocking and couldn't figure out where the hell it was coming from! Drove me crazy. I decided since I'm up I might as well be doing something productive, so I'm doing housework, resting my feet for a second then back to work I go I guess. Wish it wasn't absurd to weed eat at this hour :p I'm probably gonna look like that smilie come 10 or so!

Trying to get motivated to head to work I would sure much rather stay home and be productive around the house the weather has been great for it the last couple days,
I had rob about half the eggs from one of my setting ducks the ones around the edges of the nest were cold she just couldn't cover them all the two BO hens I had setting have one chick between them 6 hatched out from one but 5 of those got seperated from mom all night and died the other one just hatched out one and it didn't make it, Thinking that I'll give them some of the next hatch out of the bator to raise if they are still being broody,
Hope everyone has a great day

Good Morning everyone!! Loved all the pic's, but I always do! NanaKat you take care! I hope everything works out.

Hope everyone is getting excited about POOPS.

Good morning folks, looking forward to another pretty day here.

NanaKat, cowboy, hope your tests go well but don't be completely bummed out if something is a little out of whack. I've lived with heart disease as well as diabetes for years, slowly getting worse. Last year I swelled up like a balloon and spent 11 days in the hospital with congestive heart failure. I had no stamina, couldn't walk fifty feet without resting. This past November my cardiologist sent me to the Ok Heart Institute here in town to fix my heart flutter. I've had stents three different times and was not impressed and didn't hold a lot of hope for another procedure. Went in as an out patient, the procedure wasn't as uncomfortable as getting a stent and immediate relief. Immediately I felt better and my stamina is
as good as it has been in years. Still get a little winded sometimes but dropping the 40 lbs I've added the last couple years would help that.

I'm not fishing for sympathy, don't deserve it, but want you to know that many things can get better, a lot better with the right treatment. Good luck to you both.
