Morning all, looks like it will be a long day at work today. I didn't get home until 9:30 last night and then had someone text me about some birds we have for sale. After 45 mins of texting back and forth (had to take a small break to catch a baby guinea, Kurt "accidentally" let it loose in the basement while he was playing with it) That was a fun sight! I'm sure we could have won some money with video from that. Anyway, text back and forth they wanted this and that but not the other, came up with a price and then they wanted to talk me down, of course I said no then tell them to just text me this morning for directions they could come out tonight to look at what we have for sale. They turn around and say "oh we won't be ready to buy tomorrow it will be a little bit before we can buy"

So here I stayed up WAY past time I normally would for someone not even serious about buying yet. From now on I think I will hand my phone over to the hubby and let him deal with it, lol. Sure made me rethink taking them all to auction to sell instead of craigslist.

On the plus side we had a egg wiggling this morning in the hatcher. I was adding water through one of the little holes on top of it and saw the little thing wiggling, sure hope one of the 6 we have in there hatch. This is our first batch to make it to hatch. Should have guinea eggs move to hatch on friday I believe and hopefully a few of those make it. Started out with almost 2 dozen, tossed 7 last week and then another 3 last night. So I think we are left with a dozen that hopefully a few will hatch out. Hopefully hubby will get the temp on the big incubator right because I have over 4 dozen eggs that need to go in the incubator this week. He played with it and from the looks of his notes he is close so hopefully today

Just to let everyone know I think I am going to be bringing one of my fancy do-it-yourself brooders systems to POOPS, as well as a couple of feeder systems. Oh and pickled dill and spicy eggs. This will be posted on the Want/Offer List.

Speaking of the Want/Offer list for POOPS. Everyone, please take some time to look it over. If you have already acquired or rid yourself of anything you have posted, please send me a PM to let me know so I can get the list updated. Also I will be posting other items besides chicks, eggs and poultry that people would like or like to sell. Please keep it poultry or farm related. Thanks

Well hope everyone has a great day!

I know the feeling...going to move the tropicals out of the hot tub room today onto the deck. work up some flower pots, put straw arund some more plants in the garden and move a group of 3 and 4 week olds into a larger pen/cage.

Lost Blue Bitsy last night.. Hate that because she had such a sweet personality... I have a full brother to her that is as pretty, but doesn't have her temperament.

The two broodies are getting close to hatch...should begin tomorrow. The Minorca still has all 10 f her eggs, but the Cochin Delilah has cleaned her nest and there are some eggs missing...the three ORGB and 1 of the Blue Wyandotte. Could she be cannabilizing or does the hen seem to know which eggs have died in the shell? Thinking of taking some of her eggs and setting up the Little Giant as a hatcher.....

Nanakat, sorry to hear about the abnormal ekg, keep in mind though that abnormal doesn't ness. mean dangerous. There are a lot of abnormal things on an ekg that are begnine (sp) and need no treatment and do not effect health or quality of life. Wishing for the best for the future tests.

I have another busy day in the garden, planting more seeds (sorghum, poppy, sunflower, all kinds of squash, cukes and some more I can't think of right now) I'm also wanting to work on a couple of flower / herb beds in the front moving bulbs making beds.

Johnorem, you sound like my dad. He had a quadruple bypass at 52 (my age) and stents and pacemakers and everything else. He was 73 when he died 18 mo ago so he made it a good while. It was copd from heart disease that he died from.
Nana, those test results are scary. Something I fear every day of my life. Be very thankful you have insurance. I'm sorry about Bitsy. She was so pretty and with the Cochin in her I know she was as sweet as she was pretty.
Robin, the broodys are going to sit whether they have eggs or not. The difference is if you take the eggs you won't end up with a ton of babies lol I always take their eggs and walk them outside and tell them to get some fresh air. After about 3 wks or so they finally quit sitting. I think they're programmed to sit for 21 days or something, sure seems like it.
Cathie, that is *exactly why I hate advertizing on Craigslist. I hate talking on the phone as it is and to waste 30 min and then they don't show up anyway sucks.

These 3 Spitzhaubens I got at Newcastle a few wks ago still aren't doing good. They've got something wrong with them but I don't know what. At 1st they ate real well and gorged themselves. Now they just pick at it and are still bone-thin, just skeletons. I'm sure it's something along the lines of salmonella or e coli (I used Sulmet for 6 days in case of coccidia). Something that takes them out slow and makes them waste away. That's exactly what e coli does and I only know that from the outbreak we had last year of it.
One of my husband's 6 debeaked red stars we got at Mary's Swap last year died. He just loves those girls. The way her stomach was swelled up right before she died my guess would be internal laying. They weren't young chickens but they're sure sweet.
