***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Well said!
I so enjoyed visiting with everyone. Cottonwood allergies put a damper on my energy but the food, raffle and the birds were all great too.
- I had to have 2nds on the Tabbouleh salad and corn pudding.
- I won the bucket nipple waterer, having been wanting to try those and have the perfect spot.
- I actually only came home with one little chick! I sure helped other folks acquire birds though.

Our friend Sarah sure had a good time. Thank you everyone for making her feel welcome!

Thank you everybody that worked so hard to make it nice. It was so fun. We had allergies that day too. We had to leave early. I aquired one pullet and she is just so pretty.

Oh Gunmama, that is so sad. I know how much you wanted a silkie for your daughter. Though Feisty sounds like a family trait as well as a great name for a chicken. I am constantly surprised at how well my daughter bears up under chicken loss. She is usually back playing in a few minutes and not nearly as wistful as her mother. I am sure someone on this board can help you Find the next Feisty

CityClucks....Ironing and Grannies you have no idea the warm memories that brings back to me. My favorite one from her was " you can get glad in that same pants you got mad in" ...it was all purpose and used for comfort and dressing down depending on facial expression and tone of voice. Thank you for posting that precious memory.

I had such a great time at POOPS and only wish I could have stayed and closed the place down. Or at least stayed through the raffle...dang it I wanted those Iris!

Everyone was so nice, and both my my friend Shawna and myself are very pleased with our chickens and thrilled to have met so many nice welcoming folks. I am so pleased that my chickens that I brought were nice enough that someone wanted them for some reason or another. I was so convinced that no one would want them, I was thrilled they all went to good homes.

The food! Oh Mah goodness ya'll put on a SPREAD. I had to pretend I did not see that dessert table and WALK AWAY. It would have been embarrassing if I had done to what I wanted with that buffet. Thank goodness there were so many things going on...at the non-food end of the building. And I have to also say that whoever decided that this is the place and time for POOPS deserves a pat on the back for the beautiful weather and the perfect setting.

I also need to say that the music selection was a personal favorite of mine. I heard Junior Brown, Don Williams, Johnny Cash, and Roger Miller and they are all such particular favorites of mine that I need to apologize if any if you heard me singing out loud. It was so great that I know that someone personally selected each and every song that was played and whoever that was you did a spectacular job. IMHO

Thanks to everyone for all the hard work, that was a delightful event in all aspects.

You got a pic of the chicken I bought! The silver laced spitzhauben right above your chicken. She's so pretty, we named her Marilyn.

Finally! Got to go to POOPS this year with my hubby and a friend and we all had a good time. It was lovely to meet a couple of the people on the board, CityClucks and Stray and Stray's dad, who being an enterprising sort decided if I wasn't buying chickens maybe I needed a college student. LOL

Unfortunately we couldn't get there til almost 2 and it looked like most folks were clearing out by then but we enjoyed looking at the birds that were still there. I eyeballed a few black marans but decided I'm maxxed out right now, so didn't buy them. Still kinda wishing I had. And then there were the Muscovy Ducks, interesting looking critters when you get up close and personal. My hubby and friend got to see silky NN's for the first time, they were pretty blown away by them. Hubby had never seen a Bantam before, so that was an education for him too. I'm the chicken nut, he just tags along and humors me on occasion!

Hopefully I'll get to come next year and stay longer. The facility was really nice and convenient, hopefully we could use it again. Thanks to all the folks who did so much work to organize and put this on, we had a really good time!

Nope you're a goner. But the good news is that we have about 25 NN chicks that just went outside, 50 in the brooder, 2 trays of 100 each that is waiting to hatch and another 100 waiting to go into the bator this evening. There are some mixes in the bunch but they will turn out with all of the desirable traits of the breed.
What colors. I will need a blue NN rooster to continue with my blue project. Would prefer one with no bow tie and a long ugly neck. Let me know if you get one of these.

My Naked Neck chicks got out of the fence somehow. I knew I should have waited to name them. I really want a few to replace them. They were so cute.

My favorite was George Jones, "Yabba dabba do, the king is gone, and so are you". I havent heard that in years. It was an awesome walk down memory lane.

Later on this evening I will post a pic of the flock they came out of. We are getting quite a few blues out of the two splash roosters in there.
