***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I've had chickie doo drama today, one of the young NN's got stuck in between the coop wall and the layer box, it was stuck there for most of the day I think. It is walking"ish" around short distances and eating and drinking well. I can't feel anything broken, but it did get scuffed pretty good trying to free itself before it weakened and gave up. I think I'm going to put it in a small dog carrier in the coop for tonight so no one will mess w/ him/her.

Traci, wonderful pictures! Your Doms stay in a 2' fence???? I don't think even my Silkies would stay in a 2' fence. We got a 4' fence for the Silkies new yard today and I was kicking myself all the way home for cheaping out and getting 4' instead of 5'. Have they ever tried to get out of the 2'?
It's a 3 ft fence. (Edit: 34" technically, it's hog panels) I've had one hen get out two times, but she was miserable and wandered around trying to get right back in. I threw her back over the fence and she stayed put. I guess there's nothing they want anywhere else. But that's just a temporary solution. I thought it would work for something but it's not going to, so I threw it around their coop till I can finish the new one. I want to get a 4' electric poultry netting fence for them.

Oh my gosh. I hope it gets better. :(

Ok can someone explain to me in plain old country English how to load pictures up to this page from my computer, I can't seem to get it, I tried copy and paste but that didn't work for me!, Lynn

I make my own bar soap, liquid soap and laundry soap, but I've had no luck with dishwasher soap or shampoo. Share your tips, please?
I haven't been brave enough to make my own lye soap. I figure at a crucial moment my 4 year old will yell or bump me. The secret to dishwasher soap is citric acid. I couldn't get mine to work until added that. I ordered mine from myspicesage.com but I have heard of others using Fruit Fresh, the stuff they sell for canning. I use 1 cup Borax, 1 cup Super washing powder and 1/2 cup citric acid. It will clump because of the citric acid but it works great here. I also use vinegar in the rinse thing instead of Jet Dry. I'm still looking for a good shampoo recipe.

Evening All! Catching up the posts it's been an exciting week here forum...

If anyone is bored tomorrow, I'm going to be at Mary's Swap meet with MichaelD. I'll have odds and ends...but if anyone needs a pet bunny, going to have a mini-rex buck there. We got two for my 4 year old son, thought they were male and female...but they are both male so one needs to go...been in a house cage so it has been messed with a lot; real tame.

Going to have a bunch of 6 week old New Zealand cross bunnies too!

For those traveling hope you'al have a safe weekend, those staying at home, enjoy the long weekend!

Hope to see you there! I won't get to be there early because of Jared's basketball game.
Hopefully you guys will be there when I roll in about 10:30 or so.

MJ: What kind of chickens did you sell me?? I cleaned out the coop and moved it yesterday evening at 8 pm. Put new shavings in their nest box, and this evening I have two cochin eggs and one silkie egg in there at 7 pm. I've only got two hens in the box!
