***OKIES in the BYC III ***

aint nothin as good as fried green tomatoes!!!!!!!
I have never eaten them, but that is my favorite movie.

My gma used to make pickle lilly w/ the end of the season green tomatoes. She always had to have pickle lilly w/ baked beans. I was never fond of it at all.

we like fried red maters here...:)

can never go wrong with a serama- this is my ruth- her looks are decieving, she can get pretty aggressive to other hens...

problem is i fall in love with every feathery kid i see!:)

Hopefully your turtle will be returned to you. He sounds huge. Have you put up "lost" signs at the local spots? Surely someone will find him.

I was going to put some up today, but since they were talking rain I didn't, they'd just get washed out. Hopefully I can get some laminated tomorrow and put them up since it'll be raining the next few days.

Those big turtles are neat. My next door neighbor used to have turtles in her backyard. They would get out occasionally and make their way around the neighborhood. As slow as they seem, they can travel pretty far in a short amount of time. I really hope you find yours.

They really can travel. Where we used to live he got out a few times, had one guy try to claim him, but animal control believed me and backed me up when I went to get him back from the guy. People think they are neat and decide they want to keep them, but without knowledge about them it can turn bad for the turtle.

I still had him in his winter box since we don't have a good fenced yard yet :( I guess it got warm enough yesterday he decided it was time to get out.

We had the weirdest rain today. I was out lighting the grill. If anyone uses charcoal, you gotta get yourself a weber chimney! It lights the charcoal with no lighter fluid and everything is hot in under five minutes. Anyway, I was lighting the grill, and it started raining hard out of a clear blue sky. Sunshine blazing down, and getting soaked. There were two or three little light clouds further off, but right over my house it was bright and sunny. Stopped pretty quick after that and now I'm wondering if we'll get any more.

My big buff rooster, these baby's daddy, is from Bo. The mama hen, Peaches, is from Carl. I have 5 more eggs in an incubator and 6 under Peaches. I am really going to enjoy watching them grow beside my little bantams.

Kass your garden stuff looks sooooo good. Was able to get a few things out of mine this past weekend, cooked some zuchinne squash, it was great. Canned 12 quarts and 6 pints of pickled beets last weekend. Been getting lots of greens, a few pods of okra along with a few green beans, been looking for ripe tomatoes too, lots of green ones everywhere, a few that are starting to look like they will be ready soon, do you ever slice your ripe tomatoes, drizzle them with olive oil, motazrella cheese on top with a little fresh basil, then under the broiler for a few minutes ?

No real rain here, lots of wind, thunder and lightening, just a few drops
