Wayne tell your wife "Good luck" with her interview.

Sounds like everyone had a busy weekend with auction action.

I was sitting right beside you and didn't realize that you didn't know what you bought. Now that is funny! Somebody just loves baby chickens no matter what they are!

It was the cute factor they had and i was right in getting them my daughter has already named the runt tiny. She is as chicken crazy as me now!

I really enjoyed Newcastle last night, I didn't get to say hi to everyone I wanted to. I spent too much time talking to brances anf Les. I did pick up 2 young black orpington roo's for my blue and splash ladies, the ladies should be happy, they have been withuot a roo for a long time. I also bought some nice young bantam buff brahma's and 2 young LF dark brahma pullets. in all it was a good day.

Okla-doodle and Bfrancis - thank you for the information about guinea pigs . . . their gestation period (the question I asked when Jaxon bought them at Newcastle May 5) and the fact that babies whistle (I thought I was losing it when I couldn't figure out the source of whistling yesterday afternoon)
Yes, we have baby guinea pigs

Carl, I promise to get the guineas this evening. Their cheerful noisy chirping is a source of great joy to DH as well.

Cathie, I'm so sorry about your mom. This must be a very hard time for you and your family to be dealing with this on top of fireworks season starting.

Congrats, Robin. When you're rich and famous don't forget all us little folks :-D
The little one I had with the bum leg seems to get around (awkwardly) with just his one leg so I haven't done anything with it. I don't think it's a vitamin deficiency or anything like that, I think it falls under the heading of "Stuff That Happens". The Black Silkie babies! They make me want some so bad! The Blue Partridge girl I got from Betsey has a vaulted skull, my others don't. So I don't think there's any real difference except in how it looks. She's always been extra big and strong and healthy (knocking on wood).

I pulled 1 Guinea baby out from under the Marans hen that hatched, there's a bunch more pipped but she was flatted out like a fat pancake over them and it was hard to crawl where she's at to check them all. I really thought they'd hatch faster than chicks. The Orloff/Marans mix that my daughter wanted to let hatch did hatch yesterday, too. Who'd have thought it'd have fat puffy cheeks and feathered legs and be so big?? OMG it's adorable!
There's only a few of my 16 Araucana eggs that are growing but 14 of 18 of the Brown Red (& 4 White) Ameraucanas are doing great. I know fertility and hatching is tough with Araucana. The 2 little hatchery Porcelaine D'Uccles & the Gold Laced Sebright I got from the feed store are doing 10 times better than the group of chicks I'd gotten last time from the auction. I lost most all of the auction chicks, they didn't do well from the start. It's mentally defeating to lose so many chicks. I've had such good luck with the ones I've hatched myself (& Carl has hatched for me) and raised that it makes me even more determined not to get any more birds from elsewhere, period, whether adults or chicks. The 2 little Buff Orps from Bill are in with my 4 Silver Laced & 2 Gold Laced Cochins and that group is doing wonderful. Everyone I raised this year gets their OWN yard & never gets mixed with anyone they didn't grow up with. That's worked real well so far this year and I'm going to keep doing it that way.
These 4 Dark Brahma girls are awesome! Big boned and so laid back, I love this breed!

Mornevening all! Dakota and I had quite the day yesterday, we stopped at Guy Rose Auction and sold some eggs, then on to Carney and dropped off a coffee table for my other son, then to Marys and visited with Micheal D. and he introduced me to MacGuyver, then we headed down to Newcastle and I sold two roosters, got out bid on the other things I bid on, enjoyed some supper good BBQ Brisket and lots of BYC company , visiting with Le and Teva, Scoots, seen Marybeth, Rebecca and Marylou, and some of the other BYCers which i have not got names connected to yet, Ended up not buying anything though. Scoots want to say you run a great auction and have a wonderful family helping you, thoroughly enjoyed the brisket and had a good time. Also I gotta find out what brand of Hot Links y'all sell cause they were wonderful, have a great day all, Lynn
