***OKIES in the BYC III ***

What kind of rooster was he?
Originally I was going to try putting like 10 hens in with each boy who overbreeds them. Then it occurred to me that was silly to go to that much trouble and expense for a single rooster (unless he was one of my favorites lol). I've got several roosters who don't have girls in with them and they seem perfectly happy so I'll try putting them in groups of 2 boys for awhile.
Robin, glad your FIL is coming home and Cathie, I hope your mom improves. For her sake and your niece's!
KING CORO was my 2 year old coronation susexs rooster i had a good freind beg me to let her have him but i still miss him i have one of his sons in the breeding pen now that is also verry nice

here is a pic of king coro

Anybody know where I can get something called LS-50 around here? I've tried TSC and atwoods. Sick turkey and from what I"m reading this is my best bet at curing.

Symptoms: swollen face, runny nose, and sneezing, appetite is great.

My EE that was looking better on the Duramyacin has gone downhill again and another orp is beginning to get a red eye just like him. I think that I've got some other illness that needs better abx, from what I'm reading if it pops back after going away on D-10 or Tylan this LS-50 stuff will kick it's ***.

With the research that I have done I think that I would get the Denagard. Using on poultry here in the US is an off-label application, here it is only approved for use for weight gain in hogs. The active ingredient is a totally different type of drug then what is widely used here.

Thanks for the responses everybody. What's interesting is the EE is inside still and the Turkeys are the only ones showing symptoms outside. I looked up blackhead and the symptoms for it don't seem to line up. They are eating and acting just fine and their stools are normal too. This appears to be all in the chest and head. What Mitzi said is exactly the disease I was suspecting, that's why I was looking for the LS-50, so I guess it's either that or denegard. Everything I read said Tylan would likely end up with immediate resurgance as well. How on earth do you hold a turkey well enough to inject it??? I would rather have something I can put in the water.

Mitzi - I was kinda winging the dose on the duramyacin :p once I really started looking I was giving more than a double dose, that's probably why it was working! :p

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who begs you for birds

They hold amazingly still, chickens do anyway. And you can feel the muscle real easy in their chest. Just stick it in about 1/4" into the muscle and inject it. If it is MG you can track it as easy as right on your shoes or hands. Everyone makes fun of me but the biggest no-no around here is walking into a birds pen without soaking your shoes in bleach and using hand sanatizer.I tell ya-after the e coli scare last year I'm truly OCD about it.

So what is the definition of a good rooster. One that behaves nice with the ladies? I have being reading and found someone say that any rooster is not good enough. I has to be a "good" rooster to keep the ladies in line.

No body panic I am no longer baby chickenless. I have 9 new babbies blue and blue splash americonas. They are so cute and now I have much needed chirping in the house. I have missed it so much.
