***OKIES in the BYC III ***

When we were out in the garden oldest DD walked to the barn then up towards the house. Crazy hawk came & dive bombed right by her. Of course my chicken loving DD was screaming to get the shotgun. Within 5 min the hawk was back with friends. Didn't see them get anything, but most of the time a few gun shots will startle them well enough to get them to scatter. I have tried honking the horn & they don't seem to notice. I know we have enough moles & rabbits to feed all the hawks in Caddo county--- seems like chickens taste better.

The new clear plastic egg cartons came--- DD is so excited. She ran in telling me they are so pretty! The dz packs break in half, so they may appeal more to some of the elderly at the market that don't need a bunch of eggs.

Buster I know Grady used Fetrels & he also added oil to the feed mix. Think it was soybean oil, but don't have the recipe in front of me. I have used red cell in the birds water for added vitamins since we have been doing mixed feed -- not sure how much it helps, we haven't done Cornish X. I do 1T of red cell per gal of water once a wk when we deep clean the waters.

hey all, just joined and i am looking for some old english game bantams and modern game bantams. i dont need show quality, but would take them if they are cheap! lol.
had to sell all my birds years ago, and have decided it is time to get me some more! i just want some to have around to look at and act like i am doing something with them.
anything i find needs to be in the muskogee-pryor north/south, and tulsa- east talequah area east/west. i live between chouteau and wagoner on the lake so that area i can get someone to chauffeur me around in pretty easy .closer and i can do that drive by myself.
got my neighbor to build somepens for me, so i have room for mabey 15 or 20 birds. dont realy want any light colors, i plan on letting them run around the yard some during the day.
not real particular on colors other than that.

The BR hasn't but the Wheaten girl has laid an egg every day, even laid one on the way home Saturday :) The boy is such an awesome rooster. He won't eat at all until his girls are done eating. When I give them treats or corn they scarf it down and all the while he's throwing more at them trying to feed them while they're mouths are full. He's a good boy.
Are all your Araucana chicks this gentle and calm and quiet? They don't make a sound and when I hold them they just sit on my arm and watch everything I do, don't try to jump off or anything. My husband named this one "Genette" as we were putting them in the car lol
