***OKIES in the BYC III ***

The BLM is using trucks like this out West. Our fire season could be different with some here too.

Lordy that truck/tank/machine is amazing. My daddy was an oilfield/construction equipment mechanic. Some of those monsters had tires as big as a small house. He would have loved this. Thanks for sharing.

So our fire situation is better than some but still sux. Got home this morning, Josh went to check on the property and it was smoldering along the property line. When he came back to get me to show me, we back out there to see and it was going up in flames. I had to leave. Took the kids to my SIL's to spend the night (I hope). While I was gone, apparently it just went down hill. Josh was on fire trucks to direct them to the back of the property. He called me one time and was like, "It's HUGE & spreading fast. House not gonna make it. I gotta go." A few mins later he called and said the fire dept finally arrived, they didn't get it put out, but diverted it around our house. They brought in 2 HUGE bull dozers and built a fire break around the house. Needless to say He and all the firemen are my hero's! After they fire dept left here, they went to fighting fires all around us. We had to cut several spots in our fence for bull dozers and fire trucks to get through. With all that's happened not looking good on getting our Dexter cow this month. But at we are very blessed to still have our house. All of our chickens were hiding all day until I got home. When I got home they all came running out. They seemed very relieved that at least something normal was happening.

Here is a video of what I came home to after taking the kids to town.
WOW! So glad you are safe and your house made it.

Well it's pretty obvious whose guinea had the brain cell today!

Want to thank all for the prayers of all the people involved in the fires in the state, my parent and sister evacuated to my house in Morrison from the Glencoe fire(my home town) as far as I know this morning all of my families houses were saved, it got the house next to my cousin and the barn and house across the road from him but the saved his home, I think in part due to the notice they got to evacuate and his dad and brother used garden hoses to saturate the yard and house before having to leave, he also has a huge gravel area in front of his house when it used to be a parking lot for the store that once was there!!! some of my friends did loose homes and Hay and barns and out buildings! I will say right now that if anyone wishes to help out with donations of moneys, hay, clothes furniture anything, let me know and I will get it to or get you to the right place to help out!!! Thank you all again for the continues prayers, God bless Oklahoma and all the helpful wonderful people here!!! Lynn

That is great news. We are still hoping it doesn't move any farther North here. With the wind change coming in today, we may not have to worry so much. Got worried yesterday because we started getting some large ash from the oak leaves. Watered my grass all day. Still praying for rain. This weather is wonderful. Sad when 100 is a cold front but we will take it. It has been a long hard week with those high temps. Thanks to all the firefighters and people helping out the victims of these fires. My heart goes out to the ones that lost their homes.

Robin and others who need light bulbs for your brooder or egg candler, Oxine, or thermostat wafers, today is the last day for free shipping from EggCartons.com, I ordered light bulbs for my cool light egg candler last week and plan to order some quail waters this afternoon. They add new products all the time, so I try to check their online catalog first.

Put "SHIPPER" in the promo code when checking out for free shipping

Kim so glad to here y'all are doing well & made it through the fire.

Lost one of my silver appleyards last night. I turned in early & DH went out & cleaned the ponds. He said they were awake & playing. I think a swim ice cold well water at bed time chilled the duck. Normally they jump right in & swim but still have plenty of daylight & warm weather while they dry. Could be wrong, but I haven't lost a duck until last night. They are very hardy compared to chickens.
Felt so good outside this AM. Looking forward to a few days of cooler temperatures.
