***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Buster they are sad looking birds. They will be pampered here & oh course Taron will try to take them & make sure they get lots of love.
Thanks so much for picking them up. Glad they are laying well & hopefully they will adjust well.

Those having breathing problems, 2 things help me. Asthma clear -- it's a mix of herbs & natural. Also drinks high in caffeine. I personally don't like soda, but when I am wheezing a mt dew helps bunches. When a new born puppy is having a hard time breathing they say give it caffeine. So same thing IMO. However I don't drink caffeine filled drinks often, so may not help those who live off coffe & sodas.

The weather forecast was showing a few days below 100, but they disappeared off the forecast already! I keep trying to talk myself into taking kids to the water park, but I am waiting for a cooler day. Guess I just need to take them & get over the forecast!

Rooster teach them how to use nest boxes and lay eggs? That would be some rooster! :)

Seriously, though, I know what you mean. You wouldn't happen to have any for sale, would you?

PS: Thanks again for the use of the cages. They were perfect!
I have more cage's if you need to use thim ...I can lone you some rooster's to put out with thim ..I had a Silky rooster one time when i was a kid that was 2 yrs old an had fatherd lot's of chick's he would catch bug's an feed the baby's an the hen ..that spring she had set on her 2nd clutch of egg's they wer close to hatch an a skunk dug under an killd her ..The rooster went in the nest box' an calld an calld for her to come back an get on the egg's he would set on thim for awile thin get off an get some feed in his bill an call an cluck for her some more i was going to take the egg's an put under another hen but when i came back later to move thim he was still seting on thim. So in a few day's they hatch ther was one chick that cheapd an cheapd an could not break all the way out unlike a game hen that lev's soon as the egg's hatch an are gone,,He stayd on the nest an i broke the shell on off of the chick he dried out an was fine...

Wait for a cooler day to go to the water park to cool off?

Yep Buster those hens look to be about two. It's a very desirable trait for a Leghorns comb to flop over like that

The industry standard is to get rid of the layers when they are about two. The birds start slacking off on their laying about then if they are in hard production. These girls have probably already been through one force mlt which is hard on them and as it nears time to molt them again they are sent off.

You could almost dub those birds and fry those combs like Pork chops!!

The city of Enid built a splash-pad across the street from where Teva's son lives and it gets crowded. I don't know how much it cost but if it keeps one kid out of the ER for heat stroke it was well worth it. For once it is something that I have seen a city do right, they built it in a neighborhood that is rather on the poor side and a lot of the houses have no a/c, not many parks or anything to do in the area.

As you do the parents bring lawn chairs and sit while the kids play. The ones that are there often have learned to wear things that doesn't hurt to get wet. It's amazing how much water can become airborne when it's only a half inch or so deep.

I have had a serious sinus infection since Saturday. Nose stopped up, draining, coughing, etc. When I woke up Saturday morning and let my dogs out, all I smelled was smoke in the air. I was probably breathing it in all night. Feel awful. Several people told me they have the same thing around the same time. That stuff is bad! I couldn't imagine having asthma at a time like that. It must be very difficult.
