***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Love the pictures of birds and little helpers!

Has anyone checked their pecan trees this year? We have between 35 and 40 native pecan trees that are holding their nuts even with the drought. Looks like we will need to find someone to shake and harvest for us this year since our regular man retired his business last year.
I had guessed this place to have around 30 native pecan trees but I know the drought killed almost half last year, I have the thickest growth of poison ivy around the bases of most of these trees the last time I tried to cut it out I ended up with a really good case if it and all the cutting and pulling didn't make much difference, So I bought goats and they are slowly eating it down the thing to remember is not to get too playful with the goats or you'll think you had been romping around in the stuff yourself LOL

Went out to Mary's Swap meet for awhile this morning. Saw Michael Daugherty - but without his trailer.

I bought a fish net that went from $7 when the lady thought it was "brand new" to $1 when I pointed out that it was torn. Does anyone know where I can buy replacement nets to put onto a fish net handle? I use them for catching chickens and they tend to get torn.

Academy and Bass pro both carry them.

I have some birds set asside for Jaxon when you are ready let me know, he will do well with them.

Has anyone heard from Jim (Mefordz) or Ken (Langshan Man) lately? I am getting a bit concerned about Jim since I have not been able to reach him by phone or anything lately.

Thanks, it is just patience and taking lots of pics, For the 5 or so I post I may have taken 50 or more that are either deleted or just not worthy of being posted.
That is exactly what I do too. I was never much into photography before digital stuff became available, because it was just too expensive to develop a hundred pictures for three or four good ones.

P&B I use tiny zip strips on the net if it is only a small tear. Works very well! Except for baby keets. Those things can get out of a net easy!

I'd like to know that too. I have two that are torn. I was thinking of making a net, kind of like a dream catcher, but if I could buy one it would certainly be easier.

I made one years ago and it lasted for almost 15 years till I left it outside too much and it dry rotted but you're better off not buying a replacement fish net but get a good sized laundry bag instead they are cheaper and they last a lot longer the holes are about a quarter of an inch as opposed to one or two inch that the birds you use it on can get heads and legs through risking injury and that never happened with the laundry bag, I used nylon cord to sew the net on and then cut a length of garden hose and split it them stretched it around the hoop and wrapped the cord tight at the base holding it all in place, in 15 years I never got a hole from bumping or scraping rocks or fence, I just got a new bag to replace my now unusable net I just need to get the twine and the time, I'll post pictures of it when I get it rebuilt....

Anyone know if there is a Newcastle auction tonight? Don't really have any birds to take unless I load up a few black copper marans.
I asked the same question last night and so far no one has offered that there isn't one so I'm still planning on going I need to decide what all I'm taking and get things loaded I have been in the middle of a sizable endeavor for the last week and a half, I'm sure hoping that this weekend will see it's completion so I can move on to more productive things LOL
