Thanks, Poco......Yes, I remember Joe's naked bird from last year. I thought that's what they are. I don't know if they are cute/ugly or ugly/cute, but you could hire me to hand feed them treats all day long. I'd work real cheap.![]()

I don't know if your talking about the toads or the chickens, but my chickens love squash bugs and hunt them w/ me regularly.Taking a break from building new shelves in the garage and cleaning out the coop. It's HOT out there. Ugh. Thought I'd post a couple of pics from this morning.
Noooooo, my silkie is NOT spoiled at all. Here's my son hand feeding him watermelon.
And one of our big ol' toads. The cats play with them some but the birds leave them alone. Wish they'd eat squash bugs.
Yes I was going to PM him also. Thanks!Retired Amry Wife buster should have turkeys ready. May want to Pm him not sure if he is reading post daily.
The birds & dogs are not happy about the heat wave. The baby guineas were sitting in the dirt next to their RIR momma & looking to be panting worse than the dogs.
The leghorns are doing so good. They have always had the ability to leave their pen, but are just now venturing out. A few are hopping through the adjoining gate into the goat pen looking for anything the goats have left behind. Yesterday I watched them scramble over to try & get the goats apples as soon as I hand them to the goats. Even had one at the front of the house, which is at least a football field away from the pen. Pretty big deal when a month ago they wouldn't come out more than 5-10 ft from their shelter. Still haven't trimmed their nails, just trying to keep from stressing them. We lost one in the storm last wk & 2 yesterday. Guessing yesterday was the heat wave & the one in the storm got smashed from crowding in the corner. I am glad they are doing so well, I wasn't sure how they would adjust. Think everyone who has extra space should get a few dozen of those leghorns.

The toads. A couple of my chickens love squash bugs and hunt them down but we don't let them in the garden most of the time because they also love my squash plants and lettuce and tomatoes and corn and melons and okra and ... Lol. My silkie eats them without bothering the plants though. And the toads lay under the squash plants with the squash bugs crawling across them. Sigh.
Lynn, That's too cool LOL the really funny thing is that that is my trap I took that picture and posted it here last year I might have posted it on another site I really wouldn't care about someone else posting it though, It's a great way to catch snakes that are sneaking around where you don't want them and if it helps someone else to save their birds or eggs then it's all good, I would be curious though about what site you found it on it could be I forgot about the site and I'd like to get another link to it LOLWanted to share a pic I got from a Self sustaining site I'm on, I know some of us use these but thought a visual pic would help others here understand how it works so well!!! Lynn
For those whom don't know about this, this is a Minnow trap set with eggs in it to catch snakes, just set them next to a wall inside or outside the chicken house/pen and how you dispose of the snake is your own idea!!! Lynn
