It's not a venomous snake for sure I'd need to see the underside to be certain but looks like a Ring-neck snake the tail is a bit long kinda like a Coach-whip but 5 inches seems too small to me to be a hatchling, A Ring-neck would have an orange'ish to yellow belly with black dots on each of the scales esp. near the vent. A lot of snakes take the same defensive posture and doing so makes the head appear to take on the triangular shape some more than others like the Hog nosed snake is really good at that and as a defensive illusion works to fool would be attackers, Unless the attacker has a giant shovel but it still can't hurt to try even if you're only 5 inches long LOLHere is a picture I took at the kids house of a hatchling snake. It was only 5 inche long but you can see the triangular head and it went into strike position really quickly. Don't know wht kind it is.Their home is in a new housing area in Edmond that was all woods....so they do have copperheads and scorpions, etc.
SIL has been a hunting guide in his earlier years. If you sihine a UV light on a scorpion at night it will glow bright green...he has been hunting and killing those in their yard.
I have one set out by each of my coops and I think I will get a couple more or build them maybe I think it would be pretty easy to make but if I run across one or two at auctions or yard sales well a good deal is hard for me to pass up LOLRobin - So sorry to hear Cindylou passed away. She sure was pretty.
Elwood - I've got a minnow trap against the east side of the barn. I bought my trap last year after reading your post. I've caught a lot of black snakes in it.
I hope it's not too hot tomorrow. I wanted to work in the yard today, but the heat drove me back inside.
I haven't been to the fair in years one of these days I'd like to go again, I got 2 plants from you at POOPS one was a Hibiscus and it is doing just fine and should be fine if I can keep the goats from sampling it again, the other was a rose plant I think you called it Seven Sisters? it didn't fair so well in the drought I tried to keep it watered enough but it never really took hold and I noticed yesterday there is no living parts to it any more, so if I ask nicely or offer a trade do you think I might talk you out of another cutting or root sectionDoes anyone have any fair results? Oh Robin, I'm so sorry about CindyLou! I've been hearing about her since I joined this board, that makes me so sad. Feels like I lost one of my own :-(
thats not a posios snake it a ring neck also know as red belly racer from the looks of the pic it is FULL GROWN they only get about 6 inch long and are harmless we used to catch and play with them all the timeBabysat the grandsons last night so my daughter and SIL could go to a commemorative recognition for those Pistol Pete alumni from OSU.
When I got home, hubby and I did some outside work mowinbg and moving a pile of debris from taking down the chimneys after the earthquakes.
Got really hot and spent the rest of the day in the house.

i will see him on wed and ask him and see if i can get you some eggsJoe - Thanks for commenting on the photos. I was hoping to hear that that white hatchling was a carrier of the scaleless gene. Does Dr. Bramwell sell hatching eggs from the university flocks? If you're headed to the university in the spring, and Dr. Bramwell has NN eggs available, I sure would like to have some.
i let him do as many as he whants he feeds them he growms them he pays the entry fee so as long as he dose the work and showes the whant to do so i will let himI'm sorry, 60+ birds?!?!?!?![]()

Anyone know anything about Oklahoma traffic laws or information sites? I ventured down today and got a huge ticket. What I did was legal here, but I can't find anything concrete for OK other than almost word for word the KS statutes, but dated in the 60's or so. Need to get to researching now to get ready for trial I guess. Not exactly sure how it all works as I've only ever had one ticket and it's been more than 20yrs since. Any advice is appreciated.
Are traffic ordinance books kept by county clerks or ????? Killing me to have to wait until Tues to find anything out.
I'm really disappointed in the heat wave, I had so much planned for the 3 day weekend and it's really put a damper on some of my projects,
I'm scheduled to do 2 stress tests this coming week on Thursday and again on Friday I am hoping for 3 things, #1 a clean bill of health #2 cooler temperatures and #3 that the Dr doesn't tell me I have to take it easy for the few days after the tests LOL
Quote: Hope all goes well with your tests and you get a clean bill of health. The hibiscus was from someone else. I'll dig and pot some roots for theSeven Sister's rose for you. Should make the transplant easier if there is a good root structure. You gave me the varigated bamboo and I have one growing nicely in a pot that I will set out in the garden after the heat breaks. The others succumbed to the heat....this has been a rough year for plants.
