Oh wow! I bet that was CUTE!Sitting here at the computer a few minutes ago, with a sterelite brooder containing 13 baby silkies and showgirls from one to five days old behind me, I heard one CROWING! I've heard one or two week olds crow, but never one this young. Of course, it is just a sort of squeak, but after you've heard that squeak several times you do recognize it as first attempts to crow. I have no idea which one it is, but it has done it at least a dozen times now. Probably a showgirl, as they do mature a lot faster than the pure silkies. But five days? I'm sure a lot more of us would hear these early efforts to crow if we spent several hours a day (off and on) in a room with the brooder.
Here is a video of the "Triple Threat" lol

I told you guys the white one is out to rule the world. lol
Glad you got it figured out. Hope for a great hatch.Well, upped the bulb to a 75 on our incubator and the temps finally settled. We put in 3 turkey eggs, 8 duck eggs, and 7 chicken eggs today to see what we get. Now I have to build a candling box ... great ... another project! They never seem to end. (And I want how many acres?? hmmm) One day I'll be old enough to actually think through ALL the projects that have to be done to actually make the original project work, before I ever build anything. Unfortunately I don't know how old I'll have to be for that to happen.![]()
Great to see so many people chatting on here! I can hardly keep up.
