***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Well, There's one less coyote around as of a few minutes ago, I was about to go to bed and heard what sounded like a dog barking I thought maybe one of the neighbors dogs had gotten in the trap I had to come back for the .22 I didn't know coyotes made a barking sound like a dog, funny thing though I really didn't expect to catch one I just set the live trap out bated with canned cat food just before dark I figured the trap would have smelled to much like me for a day or so, I'm gonna keep setting it I just need to get more cat food since it seems to work so well LOL

Good thing I went back out it looks like it might rain and my truck windows were open but now that they aren't it probably won't, and to think if it don't rain I'll have to live with being responsible for not ending the drought by not sacrificing my truck to the rain gods....Is there a patron saint of poor choices? :)

Bill DH shot a coyote last fall-- left it to lay in the pasture & haven't had another by our barn in the past yr. they were visiting daily. Now since it is cooling off we are hearing them more, but when he calls them in with the electric call they are very easy to take out. Traps are a struggle for us, my own dogs won't leave them alone!

I need to look into an electric call there are plenty to call up around here, I got one last year also and caught it in the same place but it did slow them down for a while I guess they don't have much long term memory LOL My dogs have never bothered the traps while they were set but I caught a coon a few years ago and they giving it the blues but let off as soon as I showed up then acted as if to say "Hey Dad looky what we caught for ya" LOL

Whats a good meat duck that cant fly? Also I'm missing my two female guineas any chance they may be in eggs this late in the year?

The best non-flying duck bread for eating would be the white pekin. Good egg laying ducks too. I have about 35 left that are just about full grown, but WOW!

Do they go through the feed!!!

The call he uses is Foxpro??? Has lots of settings, isn't ours but we have several hunting obsessed friends that use it for actual game hunting. DH just borrows it off season, or sometimes his friends will even ask to come hunt the coyotes when they are having hunting withdrawals. I offered to buy him his own last yr for Christmas but he said why when he can just borrow one..... They are around $150 online, but considering the damage a coyote can do I consider it a good investment. A local guy does a lot of trapping & uses call ducks as bait in his traps. I think those poor ducks how stressed they must be, but it works. Glanced out the door didn't see much damage out front, still thundering some. Had a good 2.5 hours sleep, but no nap for me today kids have band & I have dr apt so maybe Wednesday night I can sleep??? Best thing--- we close on one of the rental houses tomorrow! Coming out better than we originally thought, takes us from 6 rent houses down to 2!!!

Cathie if you pass your oldest your car then what about the next? Our original plan was to give one of the girls the Camry & then let them drive it for 2 yrs & give it to the other, but the Camry is still in good shape & retail on it is $14-- so we decided it is too nice to give to the kids-- mean parents right?? Plus if child one tears it to crap next child gets the short end of the stick. So we re thought it, I am thankful we have had them saving all this time. I know it has been a good lesson for Taron, but I don't know that Alexis still gets it! Oh well each child learns differently.
I would love for Matthew to be able to work and make some of his own money to buy a car. Sadly living where we do he would have to drive at least 25 miles one way for a fast food job. He has been collecting coins and when he cashes those in (he collects old coins) he will have his start up money for college. But I don't want him trying to work a part time job, school and basketball. He is now doing some one on one coaching with a younger boy that he gets paid $15 for an hour of "tutoring" a week. He is working with him on basketball skills but that has been hit or miss with the boy and his parents. But we do have a Ford Ranger saved back for Kurt. Now Nathanael and Jackson hopefully we will have something for them when the time comes lol.

Not sure on the ducks but yes it is possible your guineas are sitting a nest. I have two setting a nest right now in the front yard. They have about 35 eggs between them and are sharing the same nest. I don't expect anything to hatch out of it but who knows. lol

Good rainy morning everyone! I need to find a home or two for 3 or 4 mixed roosters. Well, one isn't a mix it's a Polish. I know for sure one is a easter egger/blue orpington mix and the other(s) are black copper maran mix with possibly easter egger. They are about 7 mths old. Anyone interested can call or text me 9186384660. They are free and will have to be picked up.
