***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good Morning friends and neighbors!

....It`s Friday!

By the looks of the radar we have some rainy weather moving in from the West, that will make for a lazy day spent inside vegetating in front of the tube......

I hope y`all have a great weekend!

Robin, sometimes the rumpless gene pops up out of the blue in any breed.
Looks to me like "he" is a "she" though. And beautiful!

My silkie broodies continue to hatch babes; one or two every day or so. Each of the three pens that are hatching has one parent that is a showgirl, but one has a showgirl roo, a showgirl hen and two silkie hens. In the last three weeks, they've successfully hatched 20 showgirls and 9 regular silkies. Tiny baby showgirls are really cute!

I'll have showgirls at the Shawnee show and sale the second weekend in December. A few will be adults and the rest will be about 2 months old.

How many possums are there typically in a group? We have caught 3 in the same trap in the past 8 days. My husband told me that I wouldn't be able to catch the possums with eggs inside a live trap, when there was an open bucket of feed close by. I told him the open buckets of feed tell me there is still a varmit problem when they are knocked over - and the possums in the live trap nearby show that possums prefer eggs to chicken feed.

Your bird are so pretty, you won't be going home with any you are selling! Are you showing also?

We trapped a momma with 5 tiny kits on her back a few years ago. I know the litter can have up to 8 during a good year. With the drought, I wonder about the litter size.
Since you are catching them so quickly, do they appear to be young?
