Show Goers: Take lots of pictures for the folks stuck at home : )

Kendall is improving. She no longer requires forced oxygen, so she can rest better now that the tubes are gone. I had a chance to see her via webcam. She looks so much stronger. I'm grateful to all who sent her encouragement through thoughts and prayers.

Well finally home after spending the last four days in Stillwater at my mom's sewing a corset, hoop skirt and civil war reenactment dress for my daughter's Christmas present ... Sheesh, I'm thinking it would have been easier, and possibly cheaper, to just buy her the horse she wants.

Not sure what I'm going to do with my mom ... her memory is not good and it's kind of a sudden thing but she refuses to acknowledge that anything's wrong. She was sewing buttonholes and stopped in the middle, changed the foot on the sewing machine and asked where the sleeve was she was hemming. I told her she wasn't hemming a sleeve, she was making buttonholes. She said she knew she had the buttonhole foot on the machine but couldn't remember why and again asked for the sleeve she was hemming. All four days were the same way with different items. I'm thinking it could be her blood pressure meds but don't know. We don't have anyone with ahlzeimers or dementia anywhere in the family or in the past several generations. It's odd. She couldn't match up colors either and kept insisting that the light blue was a dark green and the tan was black.

Anyway, doing an experiment with meat birds now. Half on regular feed, half on fermented feed. We tried the fermented feed once before but the birds seemed to be growing soooooooo slow we quit after three weeks. This time we decided we couldn't process 25 birds all in one week anyway so we split them in two groups to give it a side by side comparison.

Gotta go split some wood for the greenhouse stove. It's going to get cold the next few days but we can keep the greenhouse up to about 50 degrees but only if we keep it burning good all night. Guess we'll have the night shift on duty ... aka my husband.

i'd look at meds interacting, another possibility is ministrokes- memory issues isn't always demectia- just some thoughts on it

Such wonderful news! Bet you are on pins and needles waiting for that first snuggle and stealing some sugar.

There were loads of birds..never knew there were that many varieties of pigeons!

People showing ..that ..I knew about: DGibson had some Columbian bantams and Buckeyes, Betsy had Silkies and Showgirls, CJarvis had three varieties of OEGB, MacGuyver was showing Dominiques and her son was showing a bird in the junior show, Bo Garrett had some nice Cochins, wish I had picked up a breeders list so I could remember them all.

Didn't see all the judging results but there were some nice placings. Hopefully folks will share their results.

Saw several folks from our OKIE group. Some could not join us for lunch but I think everyone had a nice opportunity to visit with each other while checking out the neat birds on exhibit.

I bought a nice Spangled OEGB pullet off the exhibit line. She placed 4 th in her variety. Since my hen Ginger died, Fred needed a new girl. She is in quarantine for now.

Pictures of some of the birds to come a little later. Need to load and edit them.

I thought of that too.
My mom and dad's Dr. has diagnosed my dad with dimentia and its no doubt since Dad is 89. My mom seems to think he isn't really as bad as the Dr. thinks, says she has known him for 53 years and said' "Well, you know your Dad". For being 83 and 89, they are both really doing well. I sure do worry about them both and, being 14 hours away, miss them terribly .

I know DGibson's Buckeye rooster did really well. I have never thought of theavery before but I sure coveted some of the birds I saw today.
I got a Blue Showgirl pullet from Betsy. I already love her.

I took 8 in three varieties and paced with all of them, the worst being 5th.
