***OKIES in the BYC III ***

She's in shock. Not sure if its more from fright or the injury. There are always birds on Craigslist. However, I'm a little nervous about buying from a CL poster without having somebody who knows the seller vouching for the seller.

Hi Neil V...

So sorry you experienced that. Even here in Tulsa Metro we still have creatures who are hungry and see our chickens as an easy meal. It is hard to go through a loss.... of any kind.

There are a LOT of trustworthy people here... and a few are near Tulsa. I think Besty in OK.... has some currently listed on CL. If you find her here in this thread you can PM her and ask.

How is your hen doing?

I have only silkies and showgirls, and do have a nice selection right now--mostly show quality. I don't post on Craigslist, however. There is a show and sale in Pryor this Saturday. It would be a good place to get quality chickens from people known around here. It is at the Mayes County Fairgrounds, and opens at 7 a.m. Many will be setting up Friday evening starting at 5, and you can also buy birds then.

I am the one wanting Buttercups, was this the hatch they were in? You do know one of the roo's will have to be named Al!

There is also a Tulsa thread on here somewhere that you may want to ask the same question. That way they would be closer. If you were near me I would help you out from my layer flock but its a bit of a drive.

Two flats of cabbage and one flat of broccoli sit on warm concrete in the driveway getting some sunshine.

Just spent several hours cleaning out a rats nest from under my jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Darn critter chewed a hole thru the floor board from under the house and has been a busy nest builder apparently for a while. I was up late last night and heard scratching noises thru the wall. When I opened the plumbing hatch I quickly slammed it when I saw the nest. Without a trap on hand, I put a chlorine tablet in a plastic medicine bottle inside the hatch to run it out thru the night. But the bottle was gone this morning and I did not find it as I cleaned out the underside of the tub. We are going to town for traps and will set a trap inside the cabinet for the jacuzzi and wire it down. And we are setting a trap in the crawl space under the bathroom. I want this critter d-e-a-d!!
It's one thing for furry critters to be out in the pasture feeding hawks and it's another thing for one of those critter's thinking it can move into MY home. The war is on!

Oh yikes!! It's funny but I own a snake and several turtles but I can't stand mice and rats. EWWWWW!! When I lived in England, we used to see rats in the underground in London that were literally the size of dogs, and not small dogs at that. They weren't chihuahua rats, they were cocker spaniel rats. Good luck with your war.

Ready for all this snow to be gone, but now they're talking about more ten days out. Ugh. We still had 2,000 homes without power in the county this morning. Last year I planted my tomatoes out on March 1. don't guess i'll get to this year, huh?

Oh well, figured out how to turn my book (i finished the first one of the series) into a pdf file. It was literally a point and click option which is good because I'm pretty well computer illiterate except to get on FB and BYC and email and the occasional google item.

Anyone have silver laced wyandottes or black sex link girls? When did they start laying for you?
