***OKIES in the BYC III ***

NaNa "project pen 11" ! Lol I remember when you started and only had a few bird! You have come a long way and been bitten bad by the bird bug!lol
We have had snow today. Ground was white twice but it melted. Shoul get an inch tonight when it gets colder.
Kass bless your heart that's a lot of work! You will love it tho when you start harvesting all that fruit and veggies! Congrats on getting it all done.

NielV Re: Pullets from reliable people. This time last year I bought two Point of Lay Barred Plymouth Rock pullets from Jeri, Pryor Claremore off of Craigslist. They were well cared for free range birds from a feed store as chicks. They started laying on April 1st and laid daily with few exceptions until October. In October they dropped to 6 eggs a week but now that the hours of daylite are increasing they are laying about nine eggs a week. They have always come right to me and eat out of my hand. I assume they will go into molt and stop laying sometime.
Jeri happens to have an ad on Craigslist now, or did yesterday, if it isn't there PM me and I can give you her phone number. Theirs is a clean well kept small farm and the trip to pick them up was a fun outing.
Also on Craigslist someone has been advertising pullets that have started laying, Buff Orpingtons and Black Australorps. I didn't hesitate to but from a Craigslist ad as long as the animals seemed well cared for and the place looked like the people took pride in it.

I've been a member here since 2011 but don't say much. It has become just too difficult to post, had to rejoin to post this. Anyway hope you get and enjoy your birds. I live in mid-town Tulsa.

Well Jaojao have a long over due Welcome! Don't be shy now that you have started!lol glad to see another Craig's user!lol not all people who put ads on there are bad,I've gotten some pretty good deals on there.
Well our ground is white and we have a heavy snow burst every little bit. They still say no more than an inch but we already have that!

Yes OklaDoodle, running about 70 grown birds and almost 200 chicks...and finally have hubby on board for the projects. Not all projects are in pens, just have them numbered and set wit a toe punch pattern.

Cheryl., I love gardening but I do take a break unlike Kass who stays with it year-round...now that lady is an inspiration!!!!

I won the war!!!! The rat is dead!! Luckily I had attached a piece of picture hanger wire to the end of the trap with a staple because she took the cheese and scrambled down the length of the tub. Had to pull her out and finish her with a hammer. Thankfully she was not pregnant and it was obvious she had never had a litter. Cannot understand why any one would keep a rat as a pet....although she was a healthy example...NAH not me!
