***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Quote: yep- it all started with a few- well, i love the faverolles, but i can't expand very much, the one that has really made me a cochin lover much as i love the bantams is my girls cassiopia and dora- so more large cochins are on future plans- maybe i'll make enough in jury duty to get some supplies to expand, 2 more weeks to go on that-

Well my dishwasher ordeal is ending again, Bosch has decided to buy back this one too. So now I have two dishwasher's that I need to figure out a productive life for (other then the obvious washing of dishes which they appearently are incapable of doing) and start doing research on what dishwasher other then bosch I want to replace it with.
well Kass, we have a ten year old fridgidair dishwasher and its still doing dishes daily- might check those out

Hey everybody!

Sorry haven't posted in awhile. Been busy with the chicks an my new baby nephew. Also his mama since she has been sick since the birth anywho. I had a question. Now if I remember correctly, & 95% of the time I don't(don't tell dh that) Newcastle auctions are 1st an 2nd? Blanchard 3rd an 4th? Thanks you guys. I hope everyone is doing great!

No Newcastle tonight-- it is usually 1st & 3rd & Blanchard 2nd & 4th

Kass I feel your dishwasher pain-- we took the one out of here so I could have a place to put my dog bowl & trash can. So far the trash can has proven more usful. I struggled to put a dishwasher in my new kitchen design, I am scared a the long term effect of well water. Our icemaker made it 6 months & DH can't figure out why it won't work.

All but 5 chicks hatched & I am starting to think Silver Appleyards need closer to 30 days instead of 28. So far only 1 duckling today.
Everyone to out & enjoy the sun today!

Congrats on the hatches! I hope more ducks hatch soon. So far I haven't had any luck hatching ducks at all.

One set of young turkeys gets moved to the coop today. They are nearly the size of the chickens anyway so they could probably defend themselves but the little boy only has one eye so I want to give them some time to get used to each, especially the other big turkeys. Moving them will allow me to move the two week old babies to the brooder in the garage though so I'll have my dining room back and my house won't smell like a, well, uh, a chicken coop.

Also got strawberry plants so I'm going to see if I can build a hanging gutter system to grow them in, maybe that way I can keep the roley poleys out of them plus it won't take up any more square footage that I need for my hundred and something tomato plants. Lol. Now I'm just worried about the squash ... I have some putting out blooms already.

Lesson learned ... note to self "DO NOT start squash indoors before the end of February".

Isn't this the first wkend of the month though?

It is, but the auctions are both held in Ag buildings so school functions get priority. Always sad when there isn't an auction, especially when DD hatches bunches of birds.

Erin imagine the turkeys will do will with the chickens. Our chickens never seem to notice the turkeys or guineas. We are not doing anything special with our duck eggs, just setting them with the chicken eggs & hope for the best.
