***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Awesome Kev about the bees! I didn't realize you all had 5 acres. We have way less than that. But def let me know how the bee keeping goes for you guys. I was actually gonna text your awesome wife yesterday evening, but it seems as you have the answers lol. But I was courteous what all chickens you all keep? And if you guys feed yours organic/non-GMO or if you go the comercial route? Just curious as we are wanting to go the more organic/non-GMO route.

The talk of bees and kids reminded me that my next youngest brother, when he was maybe three to five years old, used to pick honey bees off the flowers. My father had an extensive flower garden in Oregon, so there were lots of honey bees. Jim would pick them off the flowers with his bare hands and none ever stung him. Sometimes he'd open his little hand and there would be as many a five live bees in it. Maybe he should have become a bee keeper. He's always had a way with animals, and is the only one of my brothers who ever raised poultry.

I got blues out the wazoo right now.

Amy, I tried to reply to your PM but it wouldn't send. Don't worry about the eggs- one roo is young and as for the EE eggs - I removed the roo from the pen for a while because he was wearing out the favorite hen's back feathers. I must have got the timing of his visits wrong when I collected eggs.
Now I have several Cochin pullets that went broody so I gave the EE eggs to them and and when I get back I will get the incubator going again.

Michigan is now getting the cold and snow you had yesterday. I expect all this crazy weather to be straightened out by the time I get back Sunday. Am I dreaming?
I been talking to my brothers about the farm. Seems we all wish we could come back out here. Baby Bro. Wants to convert the grainery or tool shed into living quarters. Middle Bro. Would put 30 head of cattle out here if he was closer. (He is 1 hr. away) I see lots of shelter and free range areas for lots of birds.
