***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Howdy Peeps! It's been a bit since I have been on. Usually every Memorial weekend we decide to pick a big project to work on around the farm since we have the extended weekend. This way we usually get rental equipment for an extra day at least since the rental yards are usually closed on the holiday.

This year DH and I have been working on installing new frost proof hydrants to the north and east of the barn plus at the roundpen. It has been a long couple of days as we have already trenched 200 feet for the water main alone. Even with the big walk behind ditch witch trencher it is a big job. The super moist soil is not always cooperative either! We are also going to trench to install electrical conduit and wiring to the barn since we have been using a buried extention cord since the barn was built in 2007. It's time lol. I am so glad! I just hope the weather holds and doesnt rain until after we backfill the ditches!

Junebug so glad you made it out of there! Thats some scary stuff! The pics you posted are great for perspective. Hope you get all of your stuff fixed up quickly.

Carl your birds are absolutely stunning! The rooster's plumage is so perfect that he almost looks fake! If I had the pen space I would be wanting th for sure!

Our daughter and SIL volunteered with their children to clear debris in LittleAxe on Friday. They spent 6 hours clearing downed trees at two homes with a crew using chain saws and chipper shredders. Really proud of their willingness to help.
So many people have volunteered to help others in the tornado impacted areas...makes my heart swell at the selflessness of Oklahoma folks.

A couple of years ago DH bought a blade for his 4 wheeler after a big snow. He hasn't used it much since then but yesterday he cleared debree from the lots for 3 different home owners. They were trying to clear it all with shovels.

With his back trouble making it hard for him to walk far, this little "toy" has him feeling like he can still do a lot. Friday he used his big trailer to help people move things they were able to salvage.
Today I can go with him and I think we are going to Shawnee or Little Axe.

Volunteers and generosity has been tremendous...doesn't replace a house, but there are tables and stands set up in parking lots and churches with signs offering sandwiches, showers, laundry service, clothing, haircuts, (I'm offering pet care). Lots of people coming to pick up trash and crews with push brooms...every little bit helps...someone helped me pick up trash in my yard yesterday.

Hi so I was wondering I am going to get EE's and silkies when I grow up but I also want a breed that is good egg production and will do well free ranging got any ideas.

Thanks

Been a long time since I've been on here, I'm hoping some of you still remember us. Anyway we are selling out of the chick raising business, just keeping a few layers and the kids favorite banties. So we have TONS of cages, carriers, feeders, waterers, pens, ect... Plus a few brooders and a couple of redwood incubators. We've sold most of the birds already, but we still have a couple of breeds of old english and some partridge wyandottes. If you are interested in any of it you can call 405-205-7629.
