***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Matt,
Great talking with you, these birds are out of some of Kathrynn Plumber's, that went to Leslie Bennet. Leslie worked on them for a couple of generations, I got a nice start from her birds last year. The Cock and two of the hens where bred by Leslie, I kept 1 pullet from last year out of a different mating and have a few young trios this year out of these that are looking much better.
I would not be letting these go but need the pen space till I can get a flight pen or three back up. They are producing better than themselves and should do you well for a good start.
Thanks again Carl! I enjoyed the visit and looking at your birds. I tell ya I don't think most people understand just how hard it is to create a variety in a breed that isn't around. I look forward to seeing your Birchen and Brown Red Rosecombs in the years to come. Thanks again.

I have a bush I'd like some help id'ing please, it is very fragrant, wild and in bloom now

Is this mulberry?

And what is this weed, it is very prolific and has bright flowers, I thought it may be some kind of "wort"????

Kass - I think we had a productive afternoon. Let me know in a couple of weeks if another visit would suite you. I may have a new extractor designed and built by then : ) I've got pictures in my head, so now I need to put them on paper and start talking to people who know how to make things that work.

What is the deal this year. We move to town and end up with 6 broody mommas and now 3 chicks. 2 Broodys are sharing one nest and were fine until the first chick hatched just now. Both jumped off the nest and then tried to peck the poor baby to death. So he is with a foster mommy and I split their eggs amoung the rest of the Broodys and gave them some new eggs. Last year we had hundreds of birds and only one went broody. This year we are down to less than 40 and have 6 and would have had more but had to break a few from the nest because we didn't have enough spots for mommas and babies.

Have to take that back found a momma sitting egg in a pet carrier in the yard lol. I just thought I had convinced her she didn't want babies haha. Not sure what I will do with her now. She isn't safe out in the yard with her nest. I may just have to put carrier and all in the coop and then move here closer to hatch time. Of course who knows when that will be.

hello friends

I have not been on in a wile it has been a very busy spring and I have found very little spar time

we had my mom come from FL and stay with us for 2 months she is now living in Lawton she was working in Shawnee when the more tornado came though and had to drive though the path on her way home she said it was devastating

then we had my inlaws come and stay with us for a week it was a surprisingly pleasant visit

the chickens seem to love this weather because they are laying up a storm

I have some white chanticleer eggs if some one would like them FREE OF CHARGE just let me know I could ether meet them some where or I could ship them to them if they are willing to pay for shipping the hens are laying well and I would hate to see the eggs go to waste
