The weather cooperated long enough for me to put another `4 X `4 dome pen together.....

It`s just needs a roost and some roll roofing for the top and it`s done!

But if you don't keep an intact male you have to take your females to someone who has one for breeding every once in a while (not sure as I don't have goats, but my understanding is every 1-2 years) if you want to keep them in milk.

this is the first year i have had a milk goat, i read that i depends on the individual and the breed. My nubian tapered off last fall so i had to let her dry up and rebreed her this year to get milk.

In my experience intact male goats are also mean in addition to being smelly beyond belief. Keeping a goat in a fence takes a very good fence! Seriously very good, they can breach nearly any fence given good enough motivation, like say a persimmon tree in the fall. I think you said you are 13 years old??? You need to consider how much time you will have for goats and 300 chickens and how much that would tie you down during all the "fun" times w/ friends. I do not think goats in particular are a begining animal for animal keeping.

yes I am 13.and I have narrowed the chickens down to only 15 birds. And I am only going to have one goat for me and my family when I grow up.

goats are herding animals you need to at lest have two.

depends on how they were raised yes they can get mean and ornery if they are not socialized when they are young but the one my FIL had last year was very nice not mean at all But it is still smart not to totaly trust one or let a small child one in the same pin if they are in rut they can be unpredictable.

So I have my 3 breeds buff orpingtons, Easter Eggers, and silkies but I don't know what kind of silkie ( buff,splash,blue or white) what do you think?

Silkies have to have a completely enclosed pen. They have a hard time seeing because of their fluff on their heads. You also have to trim their nails. Also if you are breeding you have to trim the males rears so they can do their job. I have some of Betsy's hens and they are just beautiful. They are not a cheap breed to breed. I personally feed my flock very well. Oats fodder egg shells. Egg pellets and fancy scratch. Plus they get to free range and have a grass area in their pen.
