***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good morning friends and neighbors! Kinda of stormy looking day out there, we got "3/4 over night and it looks like there is more on the way.

After I fed and watered I pre cut and laid out the materials for another `4 X `4 dome pen and as soon as the weather settles down a bit I will finish painting the boards and put it together.

I hope y`all have a great day!

Oh my goodness love the Princess Bride names! ROFL!

It's even funnier that the names match the particular chicken very well!
Thanks me and my girls love the movie and when my youngest wanted to name the buff laced girl butter cup we tried to see which other names would fit the others lol. So the red roo was the bigest so he became fezzik and the buff roo had to be westly and since inigo sound sort of like indigo we thought that would be good for the blue one.

I love the princess bride names as well. My youngest daughter, who is now 28 can still recite that movie from beginning to end. She would love to name our chickens after the movie characters too!
we love the movie too..Butter cup just seemed to fit the buff laced girl and all the others just seemed to fall in place to lol.

I think you should start small and let them supply you with others--at least at first.  Another thing you might not be taking into consideration is the amount of poop you'll have to deal with.  If you start small, you'll get a feel for whether or not you really enjoy doing it.  While their eggs are small, silkie eggs are larger than most bantams and are also good eating.
thank you I never thout about that.

Someone told me there was a post on here about the Cement Auction starting up again. Does anyone have any information about it or a phone number????? Thanks.......

these are the chickens my DH and i are thinking about. in addition to these we would like some olive eggers as well.
what is everyone person experience with these breeds? where would be a good place to get these breeds? i would like to stay more local, but if i cant, well then i cant. also how well do these breeds do in a mixed flock? and if i were to add a roo into the mix what would be the best kind of roo to get? added note: we are planning on getting 2 of each breed, possibly 3 of each breed.
