Our main problem are the eggs the broody hens are trying to hatch are what are exploding... and its not just sad but nasty too.. cause you realize you have lost another chick that was near hatching

Barnswallow, sorry about the exploding eggs, sounds extremely nasty!!!!

How does a broody respond to the mess / stink? Does she still sit on the mess until someone cleans it?


I've been taking a few pics of my newest great neice.

This one is my favorite

We started the photo session w/ the tiarra on, but in the middle there was a little "melt down"

and somehow the tiarra was lost.

We have more Orp's!!!

I found someone nearby who had 7 buff Orp pullets for sale. If all goes well, we will have them in our flock within a day or so. So the Orp obsession is now up to : 2 blue cockerels, 1 black pullet and 7 buff pullets. Insert happy dance here.

can't wait! yes the eng orps are very tempting! had a guy in england request a painting so got to looking at them and drooling!
