***OKIES in the BYC III ***

My hubby took the computer with him when he left out of state. I am now catching up a bit and found that there are pages and pages! Hope everyone is doing well as well as the feathered children. My Splash Marans eggs I threw in the incubator hatched last Friday/Saturday. I am so excited!

They are such puffy balls of personality! One pecks everyone else for no reason at all, one hangs out at and on top of their feeder all the time (sleeps there as well lol!), then I have the one that comes and charges at my hand if I tap the tub floor. I know... but this newbie is pretty getty about these babies! Here is a pic of the kids. We will be keeping two pullets as soon as we can tell what is what. So if anyone is wanting one there will be five extra. I will let ya know because I would rather them go to BYCers before a random Craigslist person. ;)

Seven out of 12 eggs... three were either early death at day one or just not fertile. I just LOVE them!!!

I would love to incubate some silkies and frizzles now but unfortunately I was incubating some bantam eggs with these and not one hatched. Five went to lock down then died. I feel so bad for the little things. So if anyone has any silkies or frizzles (pullets or hens... or even chicks) I would love to buy a few for my daughter's own little flock. Chicken math has gotten out of hand at our house!!!!!

7 out of 12 is pretty great for shipped eggs!! Congrats

I want some of the splash marans. I'll need pullets to go with my splash marans rooster.

The Maran club will be set up at Shawnee, that is a positive sign for anyone looking for the breed in good quality birds. This may be their National I don't recall at the moment as I don't really keep up with that breed.

I think the plan is Abuelitas which is a mexican restaurant off of HWY 177 @ 11:30. It is not far from the Expo Center, the food is good, there is plenty of seating and they have graciously hosted our group for years...

Yes that's the plan.. Abuelita Rosa's (Gandma Rosa's) 11:30 Saturday at the intersection od Hwy 177 and 45th St. Just a few miles north of the show barn on 177.
Come one come all, its always a good gathering or meet and greet for new folks or just those who have never met each other.
Please incourage your kids to get more involved with the hobby and showing it is a very rewarding hobby that will help keep them pointed down the right path without costing you a small fortune in feed.

Don, Those kids did a great job, I went up this morning and all of the coop tags were in place all seemed done, just waiting on Darrel to get all the papers printed and ready for coop in this afternoon.

Carl those kid did do a good job it worked really well they had coop cards and shavings in cages by abut. 2:30. Also very nice kids

I actually contacted the local 4H regarding getting my six year old granddaughter involved just a few days ago. I was going to try to get my hands on some breeding standards at the show so I can help get her started.

Hi, I'm Carol from Shawnee. Chickens are beautiful and amazing, arent they? I don't have any chickens yet, but would like to have them. I must find out the rules in

POOPS is a chicken gathering we have once a year usually in spring in around near Shawnee/Choctaw area (usually) (stands for something like People Of Oklaoma Poultry Swap)
