I am restarting my flock. I live in the city. Technically there is no ordinance against roosters, but I want to be a good neighbor. I am getting a pair from BetsyOK and those will be my show chickens. So I need 6 more for egg layers.

I have my preferences... but really I like all types of chickens. I would preferr a double purpose breed for eggs and meat, but eggs are the priority.
We are looking to start hatching eggs for my daughter's 4H project. So I need to find a steady supply of fertile eggs too.
Skiatook is not to far for me to drive, if I ever have the vehicle. We are a one car family, and my hubby works two jobs and goes to school full time, so most of the time we have to walk or take the bus if we go anywhere. I have a safe pen, with a coop elevated off the ground. Right now the run is just covered in chicken wire and bird netting, but we are going to reinforce the bottom half with heavy grade field fencing and plywood. The top is enclosed to keep the hens in and the hawks out.
