NanaKat---Glad to see you back on. I was worried yesterday and almost called to make sure u were ok. Glad I didn't as I would have been interupting your company. Are u pretty sore or are u just bouncing like a youngster after a fall? Would LOL be appropiate? The kids are doing great. Some are feathering faster than others and a couple are tall and lean looking, giving me the idea that they are roos.. Some of them look like frizzles. Is that possible or is that the way their feathers grow in? I took away the chick feeder and put a bowl instead for their feed. What a mistake. They have decided that it is a dust bath and are having a ball. so today I;'m going to try to build them a bigger brooder and put in a box for dust bathing.

one more question. some are getting a lot more feathers on their legs than others. Is that an indication of sex? just hoping I can find out what they are before they start crowing. HEHEHE. However , none of these are going in the freezer since I'm hand raising them.

TARABELLA-----I haven't read anything on here about your vehicle, so I am assuming u got it out ok and that your ok too. Those little cows are really cute. But what about a goat? If they are fed right their milk is every bit as good as cow milk and much more nutritious. It's when they are running with a billy at the same time that makes them smelly. My daughter makes cheese, butter and I don't remember what else from the milk. Oh, soap. Yogurt

\I have lots of other comments to others but am already getting too windy

I'm really excited about the new Dr. I saw on Friday. He's pretty famous. He's written a best seller, and been on the Drs, Dr. Oz, etc,. Any way I tell ya;ll what I found out later. He does both conventional med and unconventional. So my insurance will pay part but not all. but I don't care. I just want to get well.

I AM WANTING TO SELL SOME GOATS. I have a 3/4 nubian doe, bred to our purebred nubian billy. She is due next month and is already getting a bag on her. This will be her first freshening so I'm guessing twins.
She is the only goat we have w/horns, although they aren't very big. She's an in your pocket goat, and I would be willing to take payments or arrange something to ya'll on here. I have two Lamancha wethers that are both disbudded, one is in your pocket and a big pest, the other will eat from your hand but was hurt badly when they burned off his horns, so he still has an issue about trusting when being touched, but is the best mannered of all of them. My nubian billy will be a year old in April. He was a twin, but is still bigger than the others. If anyone is interested in him but doesn't want a billy, we will band him for u. They make a bander called the california bander and you can band anything with big or small cajones. I don't want to advertise them on Craigs List, because I want them to go to a good home and not be butchered since they were pets. If, my daughter doesn't do something with her nubian/alpine cross, bred to our nubian, she will be up for sale too. She is also disbudded, but is a pain in a donkey.
Anyway, I'm really excited about the visit to this Dr. and want to tell ya'll about him later. You're my fami;y. so to speak and all I have to talk to except hubby. The kids all all busy and they just uh huh.

Yes, that is where I started years ago, fascinated by the idea of a crocheted quilt like those, and I did a few afghans in quilt patterns. But was frustrated w/ how bed sized afghans didn't hold their shape well. That is when I came up w/ the idea to back them, first w/ just a solid piece of fabric, then got to thinking why not quilt on one side and afghan on the other.

Finding a good Dr is so hard and finding one that is good AND that you can get along with is a true treasure! Hope he is able to help.

Thanks Diana, I'm stiff but getting better. On the chicks, won't be a chance for frizzles, tall and lean May be boys. A dust box with a little of your soil mixed with sand will help inoculate them too. More or less feathers on the legs is determined by the genetics. The ones with fewer feathers took hot summer temps really well.
Glad to hear you like your new doctor. Hope he can really help.

Right now we don't have enough space for either, but I would rather have a mini cow for the novelty and because a cow won't jump on my children, car, back, fence or what ever else they can jump up on!!!! I haven't had great experiences with goats, but I would like to try goats' milk sometime!

As for the tuck, a friend helped us get it out that same day! There was no damage to the truck or myself! I just kind of drifted into the ditch after hitting a small patch of ice right after my 4WD kicked out. Since then the DH has replaced the hose that was the problem......please don't try to ask me more than that LOL (my husband loves to give me the details, I have learned a bit though!)

In other news, I have a broody that gives me the dirtiest look when I gather eggs and tried to peck me today

I tried telling her she had to wait for warmer weather.....i don't think she cared to hear that! I am itchy for an incubator.....BUT (said petulantly with a resentful kick at the ground) It's probably a good thing since I have babies on the way around the 25th

Honestly, I miss my goats, especially my Pan.. Pan was a solid red boar goat and was my baby. Totally miss that sweet goat..Stupid goat thieves...
I have been researching mini cows and would like to get either a Jersey or Dexter.. They both are wonderful looking, produce about 2-3 gallons of milk and eat about half what a regular size cow eats.. There is a mini Jersey breeder in Texas. Mini cows are so cute.
