***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Why am I not surprised at you Robin???

Thanks tons Nana! That's a brilliant and simple idea!

And thanks Rinda! I already do the poly-visol, but this seems to be hitting the Brahma chicks hard, so to me it looks like it's either hereditary or an infection. Considering the circumstances in how I came to get them, I thought it was worth pursuing a potential ongoing infection.

I've tried the bandaids stuck to both the legs and to itself, and I've even tried to make a bandaid manacle that wouldn't stick the feathers, but those little legs are so tiny it's like trying to splint a splinter.

As of right now we are half way through day 21 on my CL eggs. I have one that piped and nothing from the others yet. My nerves are on edge because it's only 5 eggs and I want them to hatch so bad. So Hubby and I are headed to Tulsa. Partly to get me away from checking on the eggs every five seconds and also to run errands. What's the latest any of you have had an egg hatch or just pip?

well, all i can say is i have a pet sparrow, and they really are shy and non aggressive- won't get into a debate- but for info on my little one here is the link http://rgorton.tripod.com/clare/

yes i am a born rescuer..LOL!!
That's a beautiful female you have there.
My guess is that when it comes nesting time the House Sparrow get fiesty and competes with my Bluebirds, and Purple Martins over the nest boxes. They'll actually toss out the bluebird eggs, and my friends who also keep purple martins, say they'll push the fledglings out of their nest. Bluebirds are fascinating yard birds.

26 days. I was going to throw the egg out but candled and realized the chick was still alive. The poor baby didn't make it. Longest I've had them go and survive is 25 days.

Oh it's beautiful! I'd love to have some sort of aviary with a few of those! I always wanted a pair of crows also. There's a crow that lives at my daughter's and it circles all around you way up high when you go to her place. It has a distinct call. How did you get your Sparrow? Does it live inside?

K &L Alternative Livestock and Bird Auction
Yates Center, KS

March 1st and 2nd

Sale schedule - Consignments (as they come in) - All sale info can be found on the website: www.kramerlivestockfarm.com Go to the livestock sale page.

The largest animal auction of its kind in the area. Come and check it out.

Anyone been to this?

I went to the site to see the consignments. There is some cattle, 3 goats, a few chickens and some turkeys. Doesn't sound quite like "the largest animal auction" of its kind around. I would still love to go, just not sure it is worth the drive.
