***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hello to all the fellow Okies

Just wanted to introduce myself here in the OK section of BYC. My wife and I have decided to get some chickens again. We use to have chickens several years ago. So I got the incubator out the other night and got it all set up and ready to go. Now I am looking for some eggs to fill it up with. If any of you fellow Okies sell eggs, give me a shout, I would be interested in buying some to get us started.
What I am looking for is about 15-25 eggs. Wanting chickens that will be good egg layers and also have a good attitude.

Look forward to getting to know some of you fellow Okies.
Thanks in advance.
Troy

Good luck with your egg search! You can often find hatching eggs through local auctions, but the down side is that you don't know the parents.

Welcome Troy! If you were closer I would fill you up with enormous eggs from my girls, but Enid is a piece from Tulsa. They lay a big egg every day and eat out of my hand.

Troy, just realized that I will be in Stillwater weekend after next. If you wanted to swing by there, I can bring eggs - no charge. They will likely be a mixed product. I have a few barred rock roos, a silkie roo, and two blue laced Wyandotte roos all running around. All are nice and have been handled. The hens are easter eggers, wyandottes, barred rocks, marans, and naked necks (two frizzle), and a few red sex links. If you are interested, let me know what type eggs you might be interested in and I can start collecting/storing them for hatching.

So nice to get back on and try to catch up with everyone! I feel much normal now that I have read some chicken stories! So sorry about the sicknesses and darn predators. I worry about my chickens constantly! Looks like my coop project is on hold for awhile. Hubby broke his leg/ankle in 5 different spots because he swerved to miss a deer and went flying and hit a tree last Friday. Life is now a complete mess but hes alive and Im thankful for that. Other than that Im sick of the weather going back to cold! I wish it could stay at a nice 70 degrees.
Wow; TRUES5: Thank God he's still with you. He'll be out of commission for awhile. Don't let him overdo it during recovery just because he doesn't want to appear as being a big sissy, or he'll be down again with more woes and Dr. bills.

Morning guys! That weather was so wonderful yesterday! Sure got me itching to get stuff done outside and even consider a garden this year

a cute one for ya- this is Cole, serama roo Mitzi got for me- well, during the day he sits on top of a cage to lookout the window, has food and water and hangs there all day- so last nite i go to put him away for the nite and he goes crazy crowing and carrying on- so i put him back by the window, quiet- did it a couple time, same result- darn his little hide- so he is a happy uncaged boy by the window, he doesn't come off his sheet, need to rearrage a little for his 'gifts' from above the chair

Well he certainly tamed right up, didn't he?? He looks pretty dang peaceful there in that 2nd picture. I bet he heard you talking to those other boys about "the change" and figured he'd better be on his best behavior!

Random Question.

I put 6 eggs in my incubator on Sunday. They are just barnyard mix eggs as I didn't have a full incubator and wanted to fill it up. I have a hen that's gone broody. Would it hurt anything if I took those eggs out and set them under my hen?

Any and all opinions appreciated. :)

If you're sure she's broody you can absolutely give her the eggs. Put a regular egg near her and see if she rolls it up under herself. If she does put the eggs under her at night.
