***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Your girls and my girls must be in sync. My biggest Langshan keeps trying to hog the best nesting box. I'm going to have to set up a protected area for her, because she tried to stay outside the coop the other night.

I just checked and she does have eggs under her. This is my big black langshan hen.

Some blue cuteness for Mitzi. A little cheesing from one of my newest Blue Langshan/EE mixes... one of Floyd's last babies here.

Hi, I'm new to the forums. My husband, 5 kids and myself live in Norman. We currently have silkie chicks (my babies) and some bantam pullets (d'uccle and cochin) though we are still looking for a few more. But searching for the perfect bird is half the fun!

We are so excited to be backyard chicken farmers now! Only wishing we had more space so we could have LOTS more chickens! Hoping to make some connections with other folks that raise bantams as I'm sure we have a lot to learn.

Okie edition!!! I live southeast of Norman in the Little Axe area but come through on my way to work everyday..

I have two turkey hens trying to go broody.... Not happy about that but I may just let them hatch some eggs if they insist on sitting doing nothing...

Had an exciting day yesterday. Came home with four baby milk goats (Alpines) 3 does one buck, traded chickens for goats lol!

Did the weekly check on the duck pond we've had ducks for two months with no eggs, this week there were 11! Chocolate muscovies.

Got an offer on our old house woohoo-it was quite low so we countered. We'll see what happens.

And said goodbye to our sweet Aussie mix Izzy, she was nearly 11 years old and suffering with cancer.

I am preparing to shut down my male breeder pens for the most part and will have several bantam hens to let go of in about two weeks. Feel free to PM if you might be interested.

Hello! My name is Laura and I live in Choctaw, OK and am new to the chicken world. My Girlfriend and I just purchased our first 4 chicks from the Lumber 4 in Spencer in Friday. We are raising them to become egg producers. We have 2 Americanas and 2 Barred Rock. So far this is our little set up.

Welcome to BYC! Be careful... four chicks is how we started, and now we all need 12 step chicken programs.

I did end up loosing one chick from this last hatch a few days ago, one of the ones that was originally in icu, seemed fine until day 3 or so then just up and died w/o warning. But Rudy is still in the fight. He is eating on his own, but has to be held and offered food and water separately. I am shocked beyond belief he is about to make it to the 1 week mark, never thought he had any chance at hatch.

Kyzmette is right- we are a huge bunch of enablers. It looks like you are off to a good start. The barred rocks seem to be girls (kind of important for laying eggs). The americanas cant be sexed by color, but I imagine you got pullets and not straight run? These two breeds are some of my favorites! Welcome again!
