***OKIES in the BYC III ***

So, Dad and i are putting up fence. Do you put up farm fencing like you would barbed wire? Stretch from corner post to corner post, secure and then add support t-posts? We're almost ready for this part. He's nearly and 80 and I'm 54, we're slow, but steady.

You don't stretch it like barbed wire, just pull it tight and tie it up. I use a stringline to set my line posts and then roll out the fencing and stand it up against the posts. I pull it tight with two fence stretchers (top and bottom) and then staple it off to the corners and tie it to the line posts.

Got it! That makes sense, thanks for the help!

X2 and thank you for the response.
I didn't quite quote this as intended! I'm not so good at phones and BYC. Thanking bardies agreeing with greenbeetle
You are quite welcome! Of course, only the first one and last two? pics were blrw - and mostly splash (greyish white) lacing. I have a blue one running around somewhere but she could not be found - probably under a tree or something. The other breeds I showed were barred rock, a bathing blue/brown easter egger, couple of naked necks that are blrw mixes - the frizzle got the lacing, and of course the polish. I don't know what the color is called
, just thought she was so cool looking.

Key thing here is to get your t posts in first - before the fencing.

We stretch by using two 2 x 4 boards that are sandwiched onto the fencing and bolted together. We drilled the holes for the bolts by clamping the boards together and drilling thru both boards so the holes line up. We use a come-a-long on the 2x4s to position the fence on the corner boards.
