X2 Actually stray dogs seem to be the main predator of free range flocks. Get a LGD that u know is already ok and been w/ chickens. It makes a difference. My little donkey Elvis, gets along w/ my anatolian, but it took time. Now that I don't have anymore goats I'm going to rehome him. He really misses his goats. I got another LGD recently thinking he'd be happy w someone else, he is but not like I expected. Oops got off track Anyway, Elvis(the donkey) tried to kill the new dog, and would have succeeded if we hadn't had the pickup parked in front of the chicken yard(putting in sand)where she could run under. He's injured the neighbor dog, which doesn't come over anymore, and I've actually saw him go after a fox w/ my own eyes. I don't know if he got it or not. There was a reddish dog over here a lot a while back, and got most of my buff orp girls, and Elvis finally matured enough that he got him. I warned the guy, because HE came over once complaining the donkey got out and went after his dog. I apologized for the donkey getting out, but told him to keep his dog at home or the donkey or I would get him. Elvis did. Such lucky birds. Really awesome. What do you put over the top?
On our way home from Rinda's and the Capon Clinic, we should be home by 7:00.
Rinda's place is wonderful! Rinda and Lonny, thank you so much. And Coral-as always we're so indebted to you.

One more month, and my 5 tiny bantams will be a year old. This is 3 feathers. I named them by the outlined black tail feathers, but now she has 4. I guess they'll never stop changing.

I'm originally from Arkansas, but I go to college in Oklahoma. A monk on campus has chickens that I take care of and I recently got chickens at home as well. When I go back to school I would like to try and start a poultry club on campus. Is anyone here from the Shawnee area?
We have several from the Shawnee area, and others of us participate in the really good poultry show and sale at the Expo Center the second weekend in December. If you haven't been, be sure to go this year. Among others, it will be the Silkie Western National this year.

You were Captain Capon today lol! 6 in a row, one after the other and she got both testicles fully and all the birds did great! I'm in awe.
Hey-I didn't kill any and i managed to do 3 successfully. Couldn't hold a candle to Rinda though and today was her 1st day
Wow! Well done everyone! I can't wait to go to one. How long do they usually last? I feel like the worst mom ever counting down the days till this baby eats solids j/k but I really really want to go to a clinic!
