***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Here are a few pictures I took today, the only shots I got of the Marans was her running from me so Ill have to wait for Arlo.
The brown one is named Peregrine and she's our favorite. Arlo calls her Peregrinious. The Blue is Fruity.
First shot just has to be the big cochin butt one! I love those fluffy butts!

And here is a shot of my favorite SFH pullet (at least so far a pullet) Her name is Penelope and she looks blueish/grey

And heres Arlos favorite SFH rooster

He's really handsome and doesn't even mind that his name is Bonnie

And @Kyzmette this is Dorothy, one of the SFH/EE mixes. This is without a doubt, one of Arlos all time favorite chicks. He says definitely in his top 5

Look at that cute little crest. She's bossy, but so far no reddening of the comb.

She will free range with the SFHs once everyones larger.

Yes, we're sure. Arlo likes them but he likes silkies and bantams more. We both agreed, before you mentioned wanting some, we would look for them a home. We just kept putting it off because its hard to trust Craigslist, so he's going to be really excited to know you're getting them.

One is a blue and the other is brown with lacing, really looks like a peregrine falcon, hence the name. The Marans is blue with some darker spots, so I dont know if thats a splash?

But she was sold to me as a blue. She's not very people friendly, mainly because I was afraid she was going to be a boy so didn't handle her much at all. She has a large comb but its not red, and at 14 weeks I think I would see some saddle/hackle/red comb things going on. But Ill post pictures and you can tell me what you think. Also the Marans does not act like a cockerel, Im certain its a girl, but Ill post for all to guess.

Oh wow love the little A frame!! Dose it have roosts in there?
Thanks! I like it a lot. The eventual plan was to put roosts in, but now were thinking about using it for broody hens/isolation area. I dont know, it will probably go in the larger run until it is undoubtably predator proof. Its very much a city coop and the chicken wire needs to be hardware cloth, plus a better lock system on the door!

@lonnyandrinda I'm really really sorry. Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to have chickens, but I can't imagine my life w/o them. I need to quit having my pity party and realize there are so many more going through worse. let me know if I can help with anything. Did you replace your son's chick?

@NanaKat I hope your Dr. makes the correct diagnosis, and if it does come down to surgery, I pray your body heals quickly and you get the much deserved rest that you need w/o having anxiety about what's happening outside

I can hardly wait for your list. I want

@Kyzmette --It sounds like your body has gone through alot in your lifetime

@shelbydog --Are you still raising muscovys? I'm quitting, because it's just getting to be too much for me and my chickens and geese are my reason for getting up. If you are ,would you like Humphrey back? Most of his kids were chocolate and I have several females and some females that look like him. I have plenty in the freezer and don't want to process anymore, even though it's better than eating beef. And I know you like NanaKats Cochin/Wyandotte crosses. I have three huge roosters, 2 birchen(I've posted pics before) that I can't process because I made the mistake of making babies of them. They are in the freezer camp pen, but I'd like to find them a home, or someone else that will process them humanely. I don't like slitting the throat and letting them bleed out while they are alive. I have lots of freezer camp boys and are offering them to some of you, as I can't possibly do them all. I still haven't killed one yet, just the processing. But I'm praying and I'll get to it eventually. Let me know. Everything is free.

Thanks everybody. My week just got much better- one of the chickens i thought was killed by the dogs was crowing his heart out in the barn and I caught him and caged him! He's a gorgeous cream legbar boy i was in the process of test breeding. One more I haven't found yet, my sfh hen and her little chick I just got from cathiesue. Hoping beyond hope they are hiding out, and will turn up.

:fl. That they turn up. Momma hens tend to take their chicks to cover quickly when there is a problem. She could be under a building or in a very small secure place with her chick.

NanaKat, I'll be thinking of you as you await your doctor's orders! As you know, I had both knees replaced about two years ago, after having had arthrscopic surgery on both about two years earlier, and they continue to get better and better. I no longer even have to take the arthritis Tylenol I was taking at night unless I've really overdone. Even then, it's not because the knees hurt!

You get so much exercise in your daily routine, and i know you'll do your excercise afterwards if you have to hve surgery, so I'm sure you'll do wel! Hope you get a good report on the shoulder. My shoulder hurt me a lot for years, and physical therapy only helped it a little. I'd been taking Glucosamine and Condroitin for years with only a little bit of relief, but when I added Vitamin D3, the shoulder very quickly improved.

Hoping for the best for you!!
