***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Vashi had to deal with possum and raccoon attacks while I was gone. They got three guineas--in their pen! The second attack didn't result in a predator actually in the pen, but it caught and pulled the guinea to the ouside wire and beheaded it. Vashi thought the first one was a raccoon, the second one was a raccoon, and the third and fourth were possums. He's now decided the first one was also a possum, which explains why it got in the pen and only killed two; one of which it dragged away. A raccoon would have done a more wholesale slaughter. He relocated the first one and the others met their ends. He's setting out traps every night, but only one of the two traps is catching anything. Possums will definitely get your adults, chicks and eggs.

Quote: I don't know how to do the @Kyzmette thing, so I improvised. Anywho. Here's some more pictures for you. We've got the last one in the brooder. It's trying to hatch. About 3/4 out of the shell. She's up and around with the rest of them.

They all look like the same breed to me...But some came from brown eggs, some from blue, and one from white? Who knows. Time will tell. I caught that one taking a drink. I think we've decided on Bagel, Poptart, Waffle, Muffin, and Strudel. I'll have to see if the 6th one makes it before we name it.

Was out sorting birds this evening to put more in the sale pen. It was about 8:30 pm and the sun was already set. While washing out a water container in front of the barn I hear the distinct hoot from an owl. Perched on the Purple Martin pole just above the Cochin pen is the biggest owl I have ever seen! I didn't have access to a gun, so I could only clap my hands repeatedly to frighten it away. I made sure all the coops were secure before heading inside. Tomorrow evening, I'll have Roger help me set the traps in front of each coop.

Green beetle...let me know if the plans arrive. I realized today, I sent the envelope without your last name on the address.

Shelbydog...looking forward to our visit Saturday.

Still waiting on a surgery date. ...won't be this Monday.

Just thought I'd show off a couple of my FlowerEEs and how pretty their coloration is. I think the one looking at the camera is a girl and the other two are boys... I think.

D'aaawwwwww! Theyre super-adorable! And the names are just preciousand Nanakat's suggestion would be perfect! Chicks are cute, but chicks with a mama hen just melt my heart!

we have been hearing owls too, seems more than one, so everyone is locked up before dark- love listening to them if everyone is put away, also been hearing coyotes more than normal. Still no sign of our brown muscovy, am if she did go broody a second time, she should be showing up

here is one that was posted on facebook-enjoy!

LOL...how cute, love the video...

Cute Video! lol We have Owls all around us too, I close up the girls as they go in the coop for the evening. So far so good. I awoke to a large owl hooting up in a tree out back overlooking the coop this morning. It flew off before I had a cup of coffee. I won't let the girls out until I go out in the yard this morning. Lock up and have a solid coop.
