***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Cute Video! lol We have Owls all around us too, I close up the girls as they go in the coop for the evening. So far so good. I awoke to a large owl hooting up in a tree out back overlooking the coop this morning. It flew off before I had a cup of coffee. I won't let the girls out until I go out in the yard this morning. Lock up and have a solid coop.

really that is the best way to do it, even the guineas sleep on the porch after a miss by an owl last year, they decided the porch is the place to be- can get a bit noisy

we have been hearing owls too, seems more than one, so everyone is locked up before dark- love listening to them if everyone is put away, also been hearing coyotes more than normal. Still no sign of our brown muscovy, am if she did go broody a second time, she should be showing up here is one that was posted on facebook-enjoy!
Oh, that was cute! Thanks for the post!

Great video.

scored some nice shipping crates yesterday at a little place in Shawnee called "Might Have it". The 24 x 24 x 45 inch crates are plywood with a wood exterior frame reinforced with metal and were $12 each. The crates have 3" x 3" boards on the bottoms and a nice lid. Couldn't buy the wood for that.. This place also had 2' x 4' sections of 1/2 plywood for $2.99. I'm making some coops out of these for a few pens that need some winter cover. I'll take pictures as I work so you can see these.
They also have 24 x 24 x 24 for $8 and a 24 x 24 x 36 for $10.
1/2 inchx 4 x 8 plywood is $18.95 a sheet and they also have all kinds of hardware.
They have over 100 in another storage site and will bring them in if you call and tell them what size you want and when you can pick them up.

Ok, I know this is waaaaaaaaaay off topic... but I went to the Checotah Poultry Auction and bantams were selling like hotcakes and a lot of them for a pretty penny. Can someone please explain to me what the huge deal is with bantams?! BTW.... I bought a pair.... OH BOY! lol

@NanaKat I am SO going to go get some of those crates!!!! They'd be good for chickens, rabbits and also my fast growing group of Guinea Pigs. (Boys, of course. No one wants the boys).

Yara, they're tiny and easy to house, cheap to feed, tame up like puppies, have amazing people-loving personalities, don't tear up the girls like big roosters do and come in the most beautiful colors!

They were pretty cute little things! My dad has some Silver and Gold Sebrights and I just bought a pair of blue barred Old English Bantams. We shall see where this goes. Currently I have 2 Aracaunas and 13 Blue Double Laced Barnevelders.... but these little guys are pretty darn cute. I just don't know how many eggs from them I'd have to have to feed my family of 5! lol

and some bantams lay large eggs for half the feed cost- dottes, cochins sometimes even silkies lay large eggs

I bought a pair from the sale. They said they were OEGB Blue Bar. I haven't been able to find any pics that state that name though....
