instead of chasing them, what if you set up a little coop or corner with food and all- and see if they will learn it as home?

In retrospect, I guess that's sort of the plan, just wasn't thinking of it in those terms. Chasing them again, is kind of the last resort, sort of thing. I'm too fat and my vertigo makes me very clumsy on my feet. I have an 8'Lx4'Wx6'H dog kennel, that has been converted into poultry housing, that I am sort of working them towards. It is where I've been keeping my meat birds, until things got pretty cold. 3 of my meat birds, though, simply refuse to stay in the coop & run with the others. I think they are going to have to go in my unused breeder coop, so that I can get the kennel coop thoroughly cleaned out, for the visitors. I hear that we are supposed to get a bit of a short respite, from the bitter cold, for one day, today, then back to bitter cold, the next few days. So, I think I have my work cut out for me, today. Then, after I put all the birds away, tonight, I'll put down a goodly portion of 20% feed and corn, and see if that will entice them into the coop. If not, I'll try grapes, tomorrow night. My birds can't seem to get enough grapes, when I'm giving them out. But, that means a trip to the grocery store.
If, and only if, I can't get them trapped in their new home, then, I'll see about getting help, to try to chase them with nets.

Took me longer than most to see what it was. It came all of a sudden--beautiful.

The most intricate and gorgeous quilts I've ever seen were made by Carrie Dickerson, who fought a winning battle against the Black Fox nuclear plant many years ago, financed largely with her fabulous quilts and all the money she had in the world.

A quilt block I just finished

Very nice! I don't do much paper piecing...admire your patience!

They begin to lay eggs at 7 weeks. Begin researching egg recipes. I was getting about 30 eggs a day from our flock...hatched enough to butcher, until the winter season reduced fertility. Some of the hens are still laying...I'm getting 10 -15 a day. Right now I have 40 set aside to fatten for butchering and 20 breeders pulled for this next season.
Arlo made his little legbar her own brooder. Then he made roosting bars. So loveable.

Wow, do quail continue to lay through the winter, fertility just drops? I'm happy if my chickens lay at 7 MONTHS!

We got our first SFH/EE egg today

:) I was afraid Arlo would be disappointed about the color and he said, " oh mom I don't care, I just love Dorothy so much and I'm so proud of her" sweet kid loves his chickens! Then he asked if we could incubate it! Ha!
