***OKIES in the BYC III ***

On my way to pick up my former Light Brahma girls!! I'm so excited

Was great to see you again! I'm happy the girls are back with their 1st mama. Of all the people in the world I know you'll take good care of them, they're wonderful girls. I feel guilty even missing them because I know they'll be better with you without so many other hens around :)

@tony o I don't think she's ever seen another goose. I got her many months ago and I think she was the only goose there. My drake is an ancona. Seeing as how the goose thinks she's a duck I'm certain she would let the drake "try". I just didn't think anything would/could come of it

Yuk! Yuk! There was a sign at the entrance to a small housing area that said "Welcome to Green Acres! Population (some number) and one grouch". I have driven through that area over the years and haven't seen it. The grouch probably removed it.

The auction at Coweta last night was a dream for buyers but a nightmare for sellers. The barn was packed: we sat shoulder to shoulder and had to say "excuse me" a thousand time to squeeze through the crowd if we needed to visit the little chicken buyer's room.

Two bantam consignments (at least 120 birds) were sold before large fowl, and after chicks, eggs, cages, incubators, and hatchers. There were some hens I would have paid $30.00 apiece for, but large fowl hadn't made it to the auction table by the time I had to leave. I got there at six and left at 11:30: 5 1/2 hours is too long to wait for the first large fowl to be offered for sale.

On the positive side, I did sell some quail eggs and I bought some quail racks in really good condition. I got to visit with two excellent friends, and by my receipt it only cost me $1.18 per hour to occupy my own lawn chair.

These handsome boys probably didn't get to the auction table until 3:00 a.m. I hope, for the seller's sake, that a serious buyer was present in the wee hours of the morning. The thought of taking a huge loss on such obviously well-cared-for birds makes my stomach hurt.

No, no, no! The sign was on Waterloo, between Sooner and Coltrane on the north side of the road. Isn't it sad how things change as we get older? But I remember chickens in the neighborhood and I'm glad there are some there now.

You must be talking about Felony Flats as it is affectionately called. It is off Coltrane between Waterloo and Charter Oak. I live between Sooner Rd and I-35 on Simpson Rd. I have guineas and peafowl. I'll have guineas for sale a little later. I don't know about peas yet! I am looking for Cochin hens to incubate peahen eggs the first week before I put them in the incubator.

Just had to post this before I go back and get caught up on today's postings

Look at these cuties that hatched and the differeces in sizes...they are soooo cute! The tiny one is either a Serama or an Old English Game Bantam. The biggest are Cochin and the two middle ones are a Delaware Bantam and a Silver Blue Rosecomb Bantam. Click this to really see the cuteness...

Also, we were at Atwoods in Shawnee this afternoon. They had a shipment of babies in which includes white turkey poults, plain Guineas, Dark Cornish, some mixed pullets (only 4 of 120 left) some straight run which included Blue Hamburg, Black Sex Link and a few I didn't recognize. They are expecting a new shipment in this Thursday. Atwoods now carries bee supplies...a whole range of tools, books, clothing, frames and boxes. A beginner frame/super kit was $119.

It was great seeing you too & meeting your hubby!

I am ecstatic to have them back, so don't feel guilty. You can reserve visitation rights as their 2nd mama

if you miss them too much!

How many girls were they running with? I have 31 girls, 35 with them. "Bill" get's to stay as the only Roo who has passed muster and "Cochise", the Partridge, is being re-homed tomorrow.

I've decided I'll buy fertilized eggs & have my girls hatch them off ... Or I'll buy new chicks on occasion because roosters are a total pain! Live and learn

Thank you for selling them back to me!

Very cool. I'm happy for you.
FYI, I was unable to find anyone local who wanted those eggs. But, I found a local, who is incubating those eggs, for me. So, hopefully, in about 3 weeks, I'll be picking up a few little cheep-cheeps. And, I'll have a better idea, what my hatch rate is like.

At least you'll get chicks, so the eggs aren't a loss. Wish we had been closer. Good luck with the hatch!

@Poco Pollo
Look what that goose did!!!

400

We think there's a baby elephant in there. At least my toddler is hoping so.

Oh, I haven't seen a goose egg in years! We had a pair once & I loved the massive yolks!
