The eggs have started to pip, but they are under the broody not in the clear topped incubator! So peeking isn't as easy. She has 8 eggs so we'll soon see.

Calicoes milles mottleds. Supposed to be a colorful bunch. I live off sooner north of waterloo
Unless I can turn a few things around, and try to put my craftsmanship to work. I might try to build one, if I can put the funds together, to buy the nice thick hardwood, necessary, to build the cabinet. I might not have the newest, best grade of tools in the industry, but, dog gone it, I can make things. And, if I have to, I can make this.
Milles! I may need to get one from you. My hens have just started to lay after what seen like months. I didn't get any chicks to hatch last year and now have a new roo.
I think I spoke too soon about my Showgirl hatching chicks. She was off the nest this afternoon- after 2 weeks of sitting !
Quote: they may be salvagable! just a day late in hatching

Just let me know when you've got your incubator situation settled. I have several Styrofoam coolers you could make into incubators and hatchers if you are willing to try really low-tech. My sister made her incubator and hatcher using Styrofoam coolers, and she hatched so many eggs that her husband told her to quit. They were only allowed to have six hens, and she was giving cockerels away and keeping pullets. Google DIY Styrofoam Incubator. You'll find some plans are better than others. Use an old computer fan to circulate the air. My sister put in a wire floor and used pie tins underneath the wire for water trays to increase humidity. She's artsy like me, not technical, and she built some working incubators for next to nothing.I think I'm going to try just that. I have an automatic ice maker, so, I haven't had ice cube trays in years. But I think I can swing a few at Walmart today.
I did a bunch of research last night, thought I'd found the best price at Smith Poultry for $139 plus shipping, then found the 1588 at GQF for $134.95. If their shipping is better, I think I will probably buy direct from them.
On the eggs, HECK YES. I will send you a PM with my address. I would love to hatch some of them out. It was some of your Marans eggs, at the Capon Clinic, that got me interested in wanting birds who lay very dark brown eggs. So, absolutely, yes, please.
Love the black skin. Adorable, huggable, must resist temptation . . . Keep posting pictures, though. I can be satisfied just looking at them : )
